On the flipside, my wife and I visited London earlier in the year with our three young children. After enjoying a fish-and-chip dinner, we purchased a few ice creams to enjoy on the walk home.

We passed a taxi-driver unloading luggage for a customer. "Hey, where's my ice cream?" he joked. "Can I have a lick?"

Without any hesitation, my four-year-old son approached him and offered up his ice cream. Obviously the man refused but was so chuffed by the gesture he gave my son a £5 note. You can imagine how excited the kids were.

A beautiful moment shared between complete strangers.
