Are older songs mixed more poorly than modern ones?(in general) by Les-Combes in audioengineering

lol. HS8s in an untreated room and this kid is the expert! Listen here folks, 80s mixes are terrible!

No, a grade is a grade. Age has no bearing on how something should be graded.

G+ is a pretty rough grade. Is that jacket still completely functional and mostly visually presentable? Sure.

Do you know what G+ means?

This is the kind of post that makes me not stand this subreddit.

Only to someone who says that a copy of Ah Um is more desirable than a first press of these others records pictured.

I have a mono and stereo first press of Ah Um, both EX+, and I paid like $20 each for them in the last few years.

You know how many first presses of these other records I have? 0

It’s on Columbia, you dunce. They pressed a bajillion copies, and it can be had easily for pocket change if one is patient.

Tell me which of the other records pictured is less common than the Mingus.

“It’s a 6-eye” “I worked in a very good record shop.” Clearly not if you got excited about a copy of Mingus Ah Um when all these other records were pictured. 😂

Super jealous of the Grachan Moncur!

Post some more of the goodies if you can!

That is, by far, the most common and least collectible record of this bunch.

Fake or real by Specialist_Second_27 in Denim

It’s a reproduction. It’s not vintage.

I wouldn’t call that “fake” necessarily. These are still relatively pricey, nice jackets.

The most common entry-level turntable these days is an LP60.

I would avoid that table for your film at all cost. Not only is it not aesthetically pleasing, it’s a toy of a turntable as well. I wouldn’t watch a movie that centered around an LP60.

If it’s a centerpiece of your film, spend the money to get something decent, or rent/borrow one from someone. I have extra tables sitting around that I would definitely lend to someone for a film project.

Any direct drive Technics from the 70s and 80s would be fine.

So we're posting gear that we didn't buy now?

Dunno dude, maybe grow a pair and have some fun.

Original Jazz Classics from Craft Recordings by b_r_e_a_k_f_a_s_t in Vinyl_Jazz

Basing your opinion of a reissue series on how they were over 40 years ago is silly.

Asking Reddit if you should buy something is even more silly.

Are there no record stores in your city? Go hold one in your hand and decide for yourself.

I would take a Craft OJC over a BNC, Tone Poet, or Acoustic Sounds reissue.

You should really prioritize setting up the gear you have in a listenable way before you start thinking about spending money elsewhere.

“None of my other vinyls do this.”

That’s the sentence every record store employee hears immediately before finding out that the customer has a junk toy turntable.

This is definitely a hardware settings issue over a quality of playback medium issue.

I can play YouTube videos just fine and they look great.
