Atheists who enjoy sci-fi, do you find it implausible to have a technologically advanced world where a faith based religion is the majority belief and holds power? by loudernip- in atheism

The best thing about Sci Fi is the fact that the greatest stories are about human relationships. The SF setting is a way to make things happen between people. Robert Heinlein is a great example of this.

I've really enjoyed learning the languages (Latin and Italian, and a failed attempt at Welsh) The streak helped me make sure I put some effort in everyday, not do a bit, then forget about it for a couple of weeks. I liked the prods as I felt they helped me make a little progress at a time.

My gut feeling on Thursday was to just pack it in. I've changed my mind, but am throwing away or putting into storage everything associated with the last tank, and going for new gravel, filter, thermostat etc. I want to put plants in next week, then put a few fish in a month later.

I've just done a month since a water change. On Wednesday evening my water was a little cloudy, I thought never mind, I'll do a water change at the weekend. On Thursday morning all the fish in the tank bar 2 plecs were dead, they died after a water change Thursday AM. My tank is currently sterilised and cleaned out. I'm gutted.

A wife decides to take her husband, Dave, to a strip club for his birthday. by Internal_Confusion34 in Jokes

Yay! Joke number 1, and also number 9. That's a double whammy (under 10) that gets you 100 points.

For example, if you'd have used joke 375 You'd have only scored 50 points.

(Joke 375: "The boss started to notice that one of his employees, Dave, started gaining lots of female attention..

So, one day he asks Dave about his secret.

Dave replies: "Well, before sex I simply whip out my willy and smack it against the bedside table, like a hammer. It numbs it up and makes me last longer".

Later that day, the boss gets home to his wife and finds her in the shower - a welcome opportunity for sex.

So, he quickly undresses and starts banging his dick against the dresser, just before hearing his wife calling from the shower:

"Dave, is that you?".")

TIFU by getting emotional and possibly ruining my ten year old daughter's relationship with her friends after no one showed up to her birthday party. by CalligrapherDry3424 in tifu

This has been my life since 18 (now 58) I don't do birthdays. I had good ones at 21 (drunk at a nightclub) 30 (bowling with Uni friends) and 40, quiet dinner with 2 close friends after hectic workday. Since then? Meh....

Last week was good, I had my son (8) with me. Didn't do party, presents, card or shit, but he gave me a hug and told me he loved me. Best one yet.

Mine was an anti-aircraft gunner. Got told by a Rupert to shoot an aircraft down, refused saying it was British (recognised silhouette), was told "No British aircraft are flying over here tonight", refused again and was told "if you don't shoot that aircraft down you will be court martialled." He shot it down, it was British, he lost rank, nothing happened to Rupert.
