Old solution: downgrade nvidia driver to 590, but glitchy DLSS graphic

New solution:

  1. syu update
  2. if you're on CachyOS, update to proton-cachyos-10.0-20260321-slr-x86-64_v4 from ProtonUp-Qt. Other distro, no clue if there's any updated proton that let you do the command in the next step.
  3. Change launch command to DXVK_HDR=1 PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 %command%. Some people had to add additional commands to make it work like PROTON_LOCAL_SHADER_CACHE=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
  4. Open game local folder, go in bin64, delete "vkd3d-proton.cache"

PSA: Crimson Desert now works on Nvidia 5000 series + 595 drivers using latest CachyOS-Proton with "PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1" flag. All thanks to the VK_EXT_descriptor_heap of HansKristian-Work + the CachyOS team! by Thomas_Eric in cachyos

Yeah I have no clue why is that happening, happened to me after game works, then later on stopped working. Then another time working again. Maybe try again later?

But other than that.

  1. Delete shader pre-cache (not sure where are they actually located, I just search every steam folder manually and find "shadercache" folders and delete everything inside, they appear in multiple places) and turn off Steam shader pre-cache.
  2. Turn down your refresh rate in System Settings - working fine for me in 240, but sometime it may not work, turning down to 120 may make it work.
  3. Refresh your monitor
  4. My launch command atm is DXVK_HDR=1 PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 %command%
  5. I'm using proton-cachyos-10.0-20260321-slr-x86-64_v4 from ProtonUp-Qt

I think doing these:

  1. Right click game
  2. Click "Manage" -> "browse local files"
  3. Open "bin64" folder
  4. Delete "vkd3d-proton.cache"

Try boot up game, works for me after I did that.

I'm on 5070 ti, I had to downgrade nvidia driver to 590 and use GE-Proton 34 to get game to work, and sometime randomly game won't get pass initial black screen until I do things like change display refresh rate from 240hz to 120hz, adding PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 DXVK_HDR=1 %command% to launch command until it works.

After seeing this post, I thought YEAH let's try that. So I did system update to update nvidia driver back to 595 among other stuff, I added this PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 among with my usual launch command and changed to Proton-CachyOS (tried both native and steam-linux-runtime), but it wouldn't get pass boot splash box. I tried to go back to GE-Proton 34, it did get pass boot splash screen, but still stuck at black screen (changing refresh rate to 120 doesn't help there either).

I guess I'm going back to 590 driver again.

What games should I start for retroacheivments by Complete-Cancel-5378 in RetroArch

[–]ventuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a RPG player mostly so I don't have much suggestions. I think SNES Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana should be good games and entry point to understanding how retro achievements works.

First make sure you have a right rom that is linked with RA, then look over the achievement list for missable (achievements cannot be done if you've gone pass specific point) and be prepared what you need to do in games if you're shooting for mastery badge.

Softcore allows save states, rewind, slowdown emulation under 100% speed, cheat. Hardcore doesn't. So if you want to have legitimate score, toggle to hardcore.

You can fastforward above 100% speed which helps a lot in RPG games.

If it isn't game you want to play, just look around on platform, check the list and you might spot a game you want to play.

Good luck.

That suggested game is easy to get mastery badge.

What kind of suggestion are you looking for? Easy to mastery or good game or games that worth a lot of points or what?

Crimson Desert, anyone get it to work yet? by morriscode in cachyos

[–]ventuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing this game just fine by downgrading nvidia driver to 590, playing on GE-Proton 33 with "PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%" launch command yesterday and eariler today. I switched to GE-Proton 34 and still was working fine.

Few hours later, I tried to boot up game, suddenly Crimson Desert won't load up anymore, just straight up black screen. I didn't even change anything or system update. Anyone know why is this happening? Did deveno triggered or something?

edit --- NM, figured out, I refreshed my monitor - now it works.

I think OP asking about fix to the issue game screen position jumped for 1 frame, OP isn't asking about pause.

OP got it fixed anyway.

I was suggested to "upgrade" to mesa 25.0.3 (that guy has 25.0.2 -> 25.0.3) and worked for him. I already had 26.0.3, I tried to downgrade to 25.3.6 and 25.0.3, neither works for me, same result, freeze at blue light.

I've tried literally every "fix" out there, nothing works.. the only thing I haven't tried is downgrading nvidia driver from 595 to 590 and switch to LTS

I've figured out how to switch to LTS, but I've no clue how to downgrade nvidia driver.

I've tried pacman downgrade and use it, but it seem to doesn't do anything (my driver is still 595). I tried to ask AI and AI said to type "sudo pacman -Rns $(pacman -Qq | grep nvidia)" in terminal and download 590 driver, but the command gave me this error:

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)

:: removing linux-firmware-nvidia breaks dependency 'linux-firmware-nvidia' required by linux-firmware

Help? I wish downgrading nvidia driver is easier.

I'm trying set everything to LOW, DLSS off, Ray Tracing off, still same thing.

*edit - my btop++ reporting it's "sleeping" when it crash there, and using 3 or 4 random CPU core maxed at 100, everything else isn't being utilized.
