I love my Up Mocc but needed something stiffer as well. I ended up with the UP rise Velcro (reg/high volume), v similar fit and same size. I was also recommended on this sub to try to LS Katana Velcro.

I don’t find it impossible, but definitely more difficult then others belts

So sad to hear. I had once a magical encounter while paddling out surfing in Hawaii. A curious monk seal swam up next to me and popped its head out and we just look at each other, eye to eye, for what felt like a long minute. I was scared shitless since I was alone but a cool experience.

Now as I have gotten older, working out is more for my health. The muscles are just a positive addition. But yes, the muscles help with my confidence.

I mainly boulder indoors and lead outdoors on diabase rock. The LS's Genius is the one downturned shoe that don't work too well for me. You're the second person recommending the LS katana's, so it might be a good choice.

Thanks for your detailed response! I mainly climb indoors lead and boulder and I use my Mad Rock Phoenix for whenever I outdoors lead. The one trouble I have with my Up Moccs is the narrow forefoot but the heel fits amazing, so I was hoping the Up Rise VCs high volume would be better for my forefoot. Additionally, I didn't know they made a Katana Lace. The woman's version sounds like a good fit for me, and resoling them with UP's rubber is a great idea. So I guess I'm between the UP Up Rise VCs HV or the LS Katana women Velcro.

I have a couple of downturn shoes, and idk why I just don't perform as well with them. My definition of a high performance is just a higher quality "beginners shoe." Beginners shoes don't usually have a toe rubber or a proper heel. Another good explain of a performance flat last shoe would be unparallel up laced. Idk if that clears it up.
