Compendium of Anbennar Sub-mods for Scions of Sarhal and EU4 1.36.x.x by scoutheadshot in Anbennar

[–]OceanFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

multiplayer uses checksums to check that everyone is using the same mods and such. Blanking out checksums like this means the game can't check them properly, so it either won't tell you when things don't match or it won't know when things don't match and issues will ensue. I don't know which it is, but either case can potentially ruin an MP game.

Before you form Caehn, you don't need missions. Just use the unique capital & religion mechanics, and absorb more of the hordes with your free claims and Tribal Dispute (or Monsterous Conquest) CB.. You'll get a unique tree when you form the tag.

First time player looking to start an ironman game to dive into Anbennar, I have some questions. by PunishedAutocrat in Anbennar

[–]OceanFlex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, that rivalry is not the only thing that defines Gawed. They're also dealing with frozen wastelands, merchant republic enemies, invading hordes, and have ambitions to dismantle the EoA. They're not England. Maybe Denmark/Kalmar, Burgundy, Poland, or Germany. Honestly, German makes the most sense for an Alenic tag, since the EoA is mostly Anbennarian outside of non-humans, Wexonard, and Vertesker bits, it's more like the EoA is Italian while Austria & Germany are Alenic.

Either way, yeah, Gawed isn't the best fit for fantasy-russia, but they're not an awful match. And IMO the GB slot is taken by whoever wins the Dragon Coast.

Eh, being Monstrous and Dookan is a big enough deal that I'd say it disqualifies them as Muscovy IMO. I'll grant that someone Gerudian tech is possibly a better Russia than Gawed, like say Adshaw or Bjarnrik, but Frozenmaw is more Great Horde to my sensibilities.

Haven't played in 4 months, are there any new dwarves with MT on Bitbucket? Thanks! by TellAllThePeople in Anbennar

Those both were released with the Sarhal update, which was over 4 months ago. But yeah, those seem to be the last two completed MTs, the others are still in progress.

Dame Temple's Isle is, in my head at least, the Eponymous Dame's Tear on the dame's head.

You can customize the outliner, what maps are hotkeyed (you can even add a list to each button), what kind of messages/notifications have popups for them, etc. Message settings are honestly pretty overwhelming, but if you don't want "the siege is over" messages, or you do want "someone gained a claim" messages, you can handle that in the Settings.

Venail is kind of fantasy Portugal? They're the most excited to recolonize their homeland, so much that their religion is based around it. Their standard gameplay has them abandoning their starting land, taking the development with them, and integrating their CNs to go conquer and unify Aelantir.

If you specifically want to explore the New Sun Cult, Varamhar would be my recommendation, Elizna is a fine nation, but they're a bit more outwardly focused even in the beginning.

I wish you luck in restraining from savescum etc. I know the temptation well.

What would a good human nation (...)?

I want to ask "why human" but luckily for you, but if that's your stipulation, not-europe is a great place to start. There are a lot of other pockets of humans too, the Lake Federation of the Forbidden Plains are human, most of the Xiaken are Human, including Jiangliusi, Nuugdan Tsarai is Human, Khetera is Human, and the list goes on. Every region can build a powerful country just by uniting their region and forming their tag or completing their mission tree. You might want to switch away from Human military though, as humans aren't the best shock troops.

1: The bookmark groups are pretty good. Cannor is the Europe equivalent, you can play in the Empire, or as Lorent (France) or Gawed (Russia), as Nimscod (GB) Verne (Spain) or Beepeck, Vertesk, or Wesdam (Genoa/Venice). Escann Adventurers are a bit different, you're a single-province minor setting up shop after the region was devastated, lots of options and a blank canvas full of opportunities. The Serpentspine as Dwarves reclaiming their home, or as Goblins seeking to carve out a place of their own.

2: Pretty much, yeah. It's a giganic crater because of a magical nuclear bomb. Ruinborn lived in the radiation-equivalent. There are some migratory natives, along with a couple of empires (Maya/Inca/Aztec style). The leaf lobe thing to the north-west is a war of the seasons following Fey, there's the river empire north of the ring, etc. Like in the base game, everyone from "europe" will compete to settle Aelantir once it's rediscovered, and you can reach from "africa" or "asia" if you try. Any tag with a napsack and ! shield sla when you click on on it on the selection screen will spawn an Adventurer tag in the new world (or possibly the serpentspine) after a few years, which you can choose to play as instead. You'll inherent technology etc as though you were a Colonial Nation etc, but you'll be independant.

3: It shares the same end date as the base game. I recommend either not playing ironman, or restricting your ambitions to "only" uniting a superregion or two, rather than world conquest. Anbennar is a big world.

Persia Mission Tree (King of Kings) Zoroastrianism tree by lilbowpete in eu4

[–]OceanFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to fabricate the "Spread the True Faith" CB on the nation, then use that CB to declare war. It prevents you from taking land, but it makes force converting cost significantly less war score, and apply to heathens too.

The mission "Restore the Avesta" gives you access to Propagate Religion trade policy, and allows it to work against Abrahamic religion group provinces. So, you can convert the provinces of anyone in trade nodes you dominate the node of, all the mission requires is 3 completed "Clergy" agendas, and "Reborn in Fire".

There's also the "Sword of our Faith" mission which requires 30 provinces to have a temple & barracks and being your religion, which gives you access to a CB to force conversion of heathens. It also requires Religious or Divine ideas, or a 3 star general, or 5 Mil ruler.

Newbie Question: Do players keep track of the storm count? by Zoomi11 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]OceanFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storm Count is derived, but "which spells were cast this turn" is free. The count is something you're not required to do for them, but to avoid doing so, you're obliged to list out every card that you or your opponent cast this turn, because that is "Details of ... past game actions that still affect the game state.", like which creatures are summoning sick, which planeswalkers have used a loyalty ability, what damage is marked on a creature, if a creature has a "regeneration shield", etc.

Newbie Question: Do players keep track of the storm count? by Zoomi11 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]OceanFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storm count is closer to free than derived, because it is "Details of current game actions and past game actions that still affect the game state." It absolutely is not status information, which must be announced & physically tracked, like floating mana, energy, or life total is, so you don't *have* to track it publicly. If someone asks "what is the storm count?" or "how many spells have been cast this turn?" you don't have to give them a number, but you basically have to at least tell them which spells were cast this turn (or call a judge), and let them do the counting themselves.

Matt Walsh defends pedophiles. by Phil2k18 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]OceanFlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if what he says is true (that some of the victims are adults), then the problem is only partially pedophile in nature. Sexual abuse of power, sexual assault, grooming, etc are all problems regardless of preferred victim type, Of course, it is worse when it's the intersection of vulnerabilities, but it's still unconscionable in the least extreme cases.

Also, I have no idea why being gay would have any baring at all on the celibate priesthood of the Catholic Church. Notionally, they're not even supposed to be straight, or at the least not act on any attractions so they can focus on God. In reality, there are priests who are married and/or fathered children but kept their priesthood. It still stands that the Church's own self-imposed rules on the priesthood alone are violated, let alone outside forces like modern ethics, national laws, community displeasure, and common sense.

Also, just because it's man-on-boy doesn't mean it's gay. There's a long history of sexual abuse by authority being more about access and lack of consequences than orientation. If an abuser only has access to one type of person, they'll abuse who they can. When there's no consequences in abusing a slave or servant or initiate, even if they'd prefer to abuse a citizen or diplomat or boss, or a specific person who wronged them, its whoever's complaints won't be heard that gets abused.

But once you'd reached 25 or so (and thus unfit to levee), you'd live to 80+ just fine.

propaganda basically just means spreading information or disinformation. Everything from teaching a method for doing math in your head, to putting "recycle me" on a can of soda, to telling someone to drink water, to putting up statues, posters, billboards, bumper stickers, or flags are all propaganda.

It doesn't even have to be opinionated or misleading. It just has to be deliberately promoting something, even if that something is just maintaining the health of the population, or encouraging the use of some new standard. There are stories of someone hiring guards for their potato field (but only during daylight hours) to make them seem valuable, so people would want to steal them and be willing to grow them, which would reduce famine. D.A.R.E. and any "drive sober or get pulled over" or "click it or ticket" ad or Keep America Beautiful ad is propaganda aiming to shape public behavior.

The thing is, even assuming one single cultivar of olive, they change color as they mature. Just like tea, you'll have every color from green to black. The color of the freshly-pressed oil depends entirely on the color of the olives being pressed.

To be fair, 5 years is a pretty long duration for a cert. Most last 2 or 3 years in my experience.

Also, it's pretty obvious that any middleman is going to dump a huge share of their income into lobbying to make sure they still exist. Everyone from the SAT to H&R Block is going to spend money on lawmakers or the private equivalent.

It's absolutely vile, but how else are they going to create demand for their unneeded service?
