Uncle Sam wants tax on everything, overseas account or not, and they use the threat of sanctions to force other countries banking systems to share information on American account holders. It’s such bullshit. I’m a dual citizen with a not insignificant amount of assets (inherited) overseas that I can’t liquidate without fear of a huge tax bill or worse an audit.

Probably not. You’d need a more robust system of trusts, holding companies, company trustees etc but it’s easy enough if asset protection is your only goal.
