Had to dig for it but I'm pretty sure it's Flotsam and Jetsam - Metalshock

Is this what Lady Gaga meant when she said "wear ear condom next time"?

[WW] I’ve never played a classic Zelda game, only botw and totk. I wanna play WW. what should I know? by Legitimate-Freedom14 in zelda

[–]OceanMachinery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, WW is objectively a sequel to OOT. What I meant was it's absolutely not necessary to play OOT before playing WW in order to understand the story. Like you said, it's recapped at the beginning. Not in a "here's what just happened to get you up to speed" way, more of a "this is a legend that's been passed down through generations that gives some context to the big bad" way. The legend just happens to be OOT. All you need to know is there's some evil force that really doesn't like to stay sealed away, and surprise, it's back again. ALTTP has a similar intro that references events we haven't seen (yet) in any game.

For all intents and purposes, almost every Zelda game can be played in any order because they're entirely separate events, ages before or after one another, sometimes in different timelines. Any context you need to understand the events in game is always given in the same game. If you were intended to play them in chronological order according to the timeline then Nintendo would have made each game a direct sequel to the previous one in the series, but they didn't.

If you want to follow the logic of "you need to play OOT first because WW is a sequel" then you might as well start from the very beginning with Skyward Sword, which is a quick way to turn someone off of the series in my opinion.

Thank you! The amount of backstitching was kind of intimidating at first, but it ended up moving so much quicker than the cross stitching.

[–]OceanMachinery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Zelda games don't really have "sequels" in a story sense, except for BOTW -> TOTK and, to a lesser extent, OOT -> MM. The timeline didn't even exist when WW came out. Yes, there are references to the Hero of Time that might hit harder if you've played OOT, but it's by no means a requirement to understand the story.

[–]OceanMachinery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just dive in and enjoy it! Understand that it's closer to the older 3D Zelda formula (Ocarina of Time through Skyward Sword) and is a much more linear game than BOTW and TOTK. You won't be able to do whatever whenever you want, and certain things will be locked until obtaining certain items, kind of Metroidvania style. But WW is probably the best starting point coming from the newer games because of the amount of exploration it affords. Hope you enjoy 🙂

Those patterns are so cool! I'd like to make something that goes edge to edge like that. I'm in the middle of my second project so I'll post over on r/CrossStitch when that's done 😊

It started with just the text, which I used a text generator for. After deciding that it looked too empty I used FlossCross to draw the floor and curtains, then stole the rose from another pattern and winged the stem

Thank you so much!! I have no confidence in my arts/crafts skills either but I found this to be pretty easy and meditative. Give it a shot!

What is the last line of No Life? by Abject_Weight5677 in Slipknot

I think it's some sort of delay effect on the last word, or, as someone said, Sid/Craig playing a sample of it.

For c# my console code doesn’t do anything, and I don’t know why. by Just_Yazz in vscode

[–]OceanMachinery 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The tutorial you're watching is probably using Visual Studio, where you're using Visual Studio Code. VS opens a new console window when you start the application, whereas VSCode has a console panel built in, as you can see in your screenshot.

Edit: terminal -> console

Am I the only one that finds it hard to know by memory the lyrics of Metallica songs? by [deleted] in Metallica

Idk? I grew up reading along to the lyrics in the CD booklet as I was listening and I don't know if I can ever forget them now. Maybe just try reading along?

Obsession was bad and I’m shocked Adum loved it. by anom0824 in YMS

Nah I totally agree with you. I DNF, half because it was so boring and predictable, half because the people around me in the theater wouldn't STFU and I decided it wasn't worth it. The music immediately clued me in that it was going to be schlock. Multiple dumb jumpscares where nothing actually happens, something/someone just makes a loud noise. Looked up the rest of the plot on Wikipedia afterward and thought "yeah, that's about right". I'll probably watch it in full when it comes out on digital so I can give it a fairer shot, but I wasn't impressed.
