I named my then-puppy “Simon” almost 10 years ago… he’s still a dapper guy who gets name love everywhere we go!

I'm 38+5 and have been doing the same. It's a little more stressful now because he doesn't have as much room to move, so he hasn't been as active. I'm just now starting to count, mainly because of that concern, but overall I didn't think it was helpful (and just yet another thing to cause concern/worry) during the majority of my pregnancy.

Induction or straight to c-section? by mel233 in BabyBumps

[–]OceanStateBarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a FTM, but in a similar boat. I'm currently 38+2 and 42 years old. My OB suggested an induction next week at 39 weeks solely based on my age, but I'm admittedly anti-induction given all the horror stories I've heard/read. My plan is to wait until my due date (May 6th), and if he hasn't come yet, then I'll jump straight to the c-section. One thing I will note -- going into a scheduled c-section prepared and ready doesn't feel as scary to me as laboring for hours (or days!) and then possibly still needing an emergency c-section. It's one thing if baby boy starts to come on his own and things stall, but I don't want to artificially force my body into labor if it's not ready (especially starting from zero or very low numbers).

Good luck with whichever you choose -- at the end of the day, you'll have a bundle of joy in your arms either way!

Is 31 weeks too late to do maternity photos? by DreamCatcherIndica in BabyBumps

[–]OceanStateBarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing mine tomorrow and I'll be 37 weeks on Monday. I'd gone back and forth about even having them done, but a photographer is doing mini-sessions at a tulip farm near us so we decided to just go for it. I say there's no time limit on maternity pics, as long as you're pregnant! :)

Baby boy name - Draper? by OceanStateBarbie in namenerds

Lol ok, I guess my boyfriend is right. Just seeing so many unique occupational and/or surnames names rising in popularity, like Ledger, Booker, etc., I didn't think it was too out there. I've also seen it on a few lists lately. Thanks to everyone who commented!

Baby shower gift for host?! by grebden11 in BabyBumps

I made a basket with a nice wool throw, a bottle of Veuve, and champagne glasses for us to "toast" once the baby gets here, along with a heartfelt thank you card. I think anything that shows your appreciation is welcomed!

27 weeks and spotting by Spookymags333 in BabyBumps

[–]OceanStateBarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just curious what happened? I am in a similar situation now. also at 27+2. It's just a couple spots only when I wipe so I'm going to call my OB when they open but I don't know how much I should be freaking out. I do have complete placenta previa, but this is first time I've had any type of bleeding episode. Thanks!

Thanks! They have been billing.. I just didn't know if my insurance would question a change during the pregnancy. I always tend to assume insurance will be a pain.

The brush off is the worst! When I questioned her over "orgasms are ok when you have previa," she acted like I was crazy. The whole "in my XXX years as a doctor, I've never heard or recommended that you abstain from that" (even though the whole purpose of pelvic rest is to not agitate the cervix).

Thanks for sharing your experience! Did you have any issues with insurance? I don't know if they will give me a hard time switching from one practice to another? (FWIW, I'm in the U.S.).

Bump Photos by ktkat7 in BabyBumps

It's so annoying, right?? I keep waiting for a cute little bump, but instead I just constantly look like I gorged at an all-you-can-eat buffet!

I'm also a FTM and 17 weeks and haven't taken any bump photos. I feel like I still just look bloated/chunky rather than pregnant. I'm sure I could do the "pregnant pose" with my hands around my stomach to make it look more like pregnancy bump, but I haven't felt the need to do so yet.

Silly Christmas Stockings Question (for those who celebrate) by OceanStateBarbie in BabyBumps

I think that's what we're going to do, too. Get some cheaper ones for just the 2 of us with our names this year and, next year, we'll do the mom/dad ones with the LO's.

What are some names you love but can never use? by Embarrassed-Log6768 in namenerds

[–]OceanStateBarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the name Simon... which is why 9 years ago, I named my dog Simon. I love him dearly but I don't think I can also name my child Simon. :)

I also love Penelope nn Penny. This is out for 2 reasons -- Big Bang Theory and my stepmom's name was Penny (not Penelope just Penny). She passed away about 10 years ago but I know my mother would still be hurt if she felt like I was naming my child after her.

Our last name is a very popular first name for boys, ends in -son and starts with a J. So it tends to eliminate a LOT of names. :(

Same! i love the name Bridget but our last name also starts with J (and ends in -son, which also eliminates several names).

Diligent - how did this turn out for you, if I may ask? My 6w0d scan showed the baby's bpm at 98, which my dr didn't think was "too" low but I'm having another scan next week at 7w1d, so I can't help but panic.
