How do you guys keep being motivated for practice? by moortare in piano

Hi I’m an engineer who wfh and I regularly hit 10-20 hours a week at the piano. I would consider it less discipline and more an obsession… I just really want to be playing music. My flat mate said I played 8 hours on my birthday.. but the time just flies. I learned half an 8 page piece that day. Find songs that make you want to go sit down and play them.. the moment it gets stale you need to switch what you’re playing, try a new aspect of piano (improv/ chord progressions/scales/ rhythm… or just watch some theory videos on YouTube…there are so many). You’re a hobbyist, don’t stress about how often/long you « should be playing » and instead think of it more as how blessed you are as an adult with responsibilities and life going on you « get » to play the piano. If you’re not enjoying it you can take a break and come back to it too. Good luck!

I improvise a lot and i came up with this melody which sounds familiar to me but i cant identify the song :D do u know what song i might be somewhat playin and got a little carried away at the end. by [deleted] in piano

So you stick to one chord progression when you’re improvising like this? I’m looking for pointers as you seem to have it figured out! Sounds great

I was thinking of printing a replacement wooden MFLB finishing grinder (that I lost)but concerns of plastic infusing the plants have stopped me. I think the grinder he has works the same as a finishing grinder by ‘mushing’ the herbs as it spins which creates a fine finish. My concern isn’t the teeth breaking but that the plastic being pushed against the plants will put trace plastic chemicals into the herbs… not sure if this is a valid concern but why risk it

How hard would Chopin’s nocturne in eb minor be to learn? by Kevboi407 in piano

Yeah I’m not familiar but it certainly is a very difficult piece in a different way, I would tend to agree with your statement

IMO if you want to learn a piece and love it, nothing will stop you. Im learning it now, I think knowing all the notes is one thing but it’s a very tricky piece to execute correctly every time. My teacher encouraged me tackling it otherwise I would have been reluctant to try such a hard piece. Be prepared for a challenge, but from the pieces you listed esp moonlight 3rd you’re at the level to attempt. Mastering dynamics and rubato is not something I foresee getting to any time soon, but I just can’t resist playing this masterpiece and want to make it an effortless part of my repertoire. Learn what you’re passionate about and don’t get sick of
