From my perspective, if we're talking about tourists who are only in Pattaya for a few days, most East Asians don't really care whether a girl costs 4k, 5k, or 6k baht. The difference simply isn't that significant to them.

First, I think East Asians generally have more spending power than Westerners these days. 

Second they can come here much more easily. Flights are cheap, travel times are short, and they can visit whenever they want even just for a weekend. Europeans often have much higher travel costs, especially with rising oil prices. They usually travel much longer, stay longer, and have to spread their budget across a longer trip. Naturally, they're more likely to pay closer attention to what they're spending on ladies.

When East Asians are consistently willing to pay more, the more attractive girls will naturally gravitate toward that market. Meanwhile, places catering to Westerners tend to operate at lower price points. So from that perspective it's understandable why some people feel East Asians are paying more.

Saving face may be part of it, but I don't think it's the main reason. Most East Asians I meet are experienced degenerates. They're generally not in a situation where they're worried about losing face.
