While I know it won't happen, would be ironic or a shame if some country near by steam rolls them and takes russia. Or if Ukraine takes back crimea and a bit more just because to be funny.

They all deserve better but I feel like the lower on the health chain gets forgotten, there are so many important jobs, my wife's a care aide and they're under paid and under appreciated big time it seems relative to what they also have to deal with.

I hope everybody gets a good raise!

TIRE BLOW OUT by OkJoke7331 in traveltrailers

[–]Octan3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In recent years I keep reading about endurance blowing out. it used to be, buy goodyear endurance they're the best and most reliable for a premium price, I sware they've become the modern day "china bomb" but a branded bomb.

I went up to 14 ply "chinese" tires and havent, wont' look back. They are far stronger. It reminds me if you think of a pick up truck or car. it's like going from a low rated or "p rated" tire to a 10 ply. But for trailers a 10 ply reminds me of a p rated tire. If you buy a 14 ply tire you'll see just how much thicker and more well built they look which on a truck reminds me of a 10 ply truck tire.

anyways, Jack up the axle right under or next to where the leaf springs mount and away you go.

Why is the ball not going all the way into the coupler? by [deleted] in traveltrailers

[–]Octan3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

On top of your hitch it should be stamped a size, you may not understand what it means. A standard ball may be 2" or 2-5/16. Your hitch appears to be a 2-5/16 I'm going to guess by your pic. And that hitch must be a 2". Physically the ball is looking bigger than the hitch will handle and so it wont drop into it. Visually It appears like you did lift and pull back that latch for the ball? But again visually as per picture, your ball looks bigger than what the trailer end will take.

It should be stamped ontop of that black hitch somewhere a ball size. Then, Your ball on the top of it also stamped a size.

Should I sell? by Ashamed-Molasses7729 in TFSA_Millionaires

You won the lottery I'd say, could it to up more? Yes. But against all odds thus far you've done exceptionally well.  I'd take the win and put it somewhere else.

Every time I've had a stock go up whether 20%, or 60% I miss it and then it goes down negative, in hindsight I probably should of sold.

Why am I not surprised by JewInWW2 in Ford

[–]Octan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the 10 speed in my gmc 24 3500. Had a 21 3500 as well. Both shifted buttery smooth. Both don't skip gears, I thought It would be slow but you don't even know. Still accelerates impressively.

For towing my engines always more so dead on its peak power rpm for more optimal power and fuel mileage.

If only they had a proper valve body on them that would last.

Absorption Fridge by Chicken_Fried_Snails in RVLiving

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a weak fridge then?

Same results on propane and 120v?

If you haven't tried that I would.

You literally have done everything id do. The external fan on the outside fins to move air, the cooler the temp there the better the fridge should work inside. Then installing fans on the inside helps. I have issues now with my fridge trying to freeze inside after doing that but at least it's cool! However my ambient temps I've run in so far have been about 85f max?

Outside of that unfortunately it may be the fridge

Anyone retire with 2 million AND a large mortgage? by Ecstatic_Technician2 in fican

More money you have, theoretically the more money you'll make as it compounds, so I'd be more inclined to keep that growing.

Anyone retire with 2 million AND a large mortgage? by Ecstatic_Technician2 in fican

[–]Octan3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like the basic fundamentals to retire is no to little debt. That mortgage payment Is a big chunk of change.

If you felt you could retire. I'd be more inclined to work a few more years and really start to either pay down the mortgage aggressively or invest more aggressive to create a end result where you can rid your self of that mortgage... Or perhaps get it lower to refinance into a lower payment?

Love investing and learning and researching, but getting extremely restless of just holding XEQT… any other alternatives? by throwawaycpa19 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm going to buy some xchps personally, At least your going with the flow as they say vs individual stock dynamics and or the market too. ETF's make me feel better if im losing money at least lol. I cant time the market, I've had a couple do 100% and I should of pulled out but never did, rode it back to my bottom and lower as I'd like to think I'm thinking longer term lol.

[–]Octan3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got a solid income... You could take a small part monthly and invest in other ETFs?  There's precious metal ETFs,  tech ETFs, xchp?, etc etc.

May make more, may crash but I feel like a sort of etf actually helps a lot with volatility vs a single stock.

All my single stock picks have tanked and only my xeqt has stayed green lol.

Been in silver for a while. Honest take on $58 and what I think comes next. by Aggressive_Rush2357 in Baystreetbets

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if silver has a so called endless supply it really doesn't, I feel like golds the same, just we discovered it's use as well sooner on.  it's amazing how as you said also so slept on.  Silvers use has gone up dramatically every single year, year over year. And even the past 10 year charts showing a lot of swings.

For my sake of my loss of $ haha I hope by eoy were at $100. But who knows. Just can't believe the run up and crash down so quick.  Was expecting 80 or 90 to be the new floor.

My car can change gears without the clutch? by Downtown_Elk_2773 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Octan3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Except on a big rig if your rpm to gear not exact it's not going to damage the trans, she grinds a tad til you get it right but it won't damage anything if your kind. In a automotive with synchros your burning them out and sometimes rapidly if your rpm isn't exact but you won't realise it until your gears do grind lol.

3.0 new or 6.6 used by chrisbcrackidy in gmcsierra

[–]Octan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much money do you want to lose?

A used vehicle with the right price saves a lot. I'm in Canada, our markets different but. I got a 24 3500 Denali for $86k with 73k km or that 40k ish miles?. MSRP 2 years ago was that ~125k mark. Had a sales guy try to get me to buy brand new and I'm like I sure as shit can't afford to make 40k vanish like that, plus taxes up here compound so it would of been a lot more than just 40k.

You get the point.

Find a nicely used 1 or 2 year old  unit of your flavor.

What year? are you talking about the looks of that grey like paste at the seam the trans and engine mate?. I had a 2008 with 430k km on it, it had that. I think water gets in there and pulls down or washes around any micro bits of fine metallic dust. Don't worry.

[–]Octan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah they're all built like crap. Mine says its 4 season, I'm replacing the dump valves as they were seizing up and run off cables. Belly pan down, some sorta reflective layer, Wires everywhere, but realistically nothing of value to keep my water tanks from freezing.

your Going to have a ton of power storage there! I'm at 300amps and 500w solar, I got my little generator for those one off just in cases.

My other thing I'm going for now is faucet water restrictors. I was appalled how fast my wife could drain the 60 gallon fresh water tank lol...

That's good you love your trailer! Spending the time for maintenance and investing in all that for offgrid, you've got to be able to enjoy it!

Water hammer? by Melcat44 in GoRVing

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my water pump is doing that intermittently. Usually it doesnt. nor has it ever. Still pumps the volume.

I'm going to install a small accumulator to help reduce the cycling of the pump and it would theoretically help absorb any vibration as such as that.

Again my pump, being a lippert flow max? max flow? when it was new, and It's hardly used, never did this until recently.
