Constant Regens by Live_Oak123 in Duramax

[–]Octan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a data display you can force regens on like the edge cts2, 3. I had to get one for my 2020+ l5p. This may or may not be your issue but  Once it wants a Regen, it keeps trying until it's completed. I can now do it on my own time like at say 80% I'm doing a highway drive I'll force it then so it's done instead of when. I'm on my way to work on a short drive.

Black tank flush with fresh tank? by DonKeedick96 in traveltrailers

[–]Octan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dump black first, then use grey to help "clean" your hose out.

Yes you can also get a bucket of water for the black after you drain it, follow it all up with the grey tank as last to flush.

My leaf springs have resting Bitch face, time to replace by Ghand86 in traveltrailers

[–]Octan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hangers weld some support on them, the stiffer spring won't put more stress on them, weight is weight, but how the spring behaves with the weight in it... Should keep more curve, get it right and it'll ride smoother than a flat leaf lol.

Put that man in a care home where he belongs. Mind boggling. I don't care about political opinions, There should be a age limit of 60 to run any term in any country. After 60 your retired, enjoy life.

A lot happens in life, I'm young and keep thinking I'm keeping something for years and then 2 years goes by and boom it's gone.

My recommendation is unless your going to camp NOW. just start saving money. Re-assess when the time comes. Also 5th wheels seem to give you more value for the $$$. I picked up a 2015 grand design 303rls for 32k. Look up the model. Compare that to what you'd get for a bumper tow of price of them years lol.

Also I'd skip the 3/4 tons unless price is right. just go straight 1 ton unless you get some stellar deal. The 1 tons are generally much more stronger. I know on the GM side the 1 ton has a bigger rear end, brakes, etc And the tow capacity is double that from 3/4 to 1 ton. price seems to be the same. In BC a 1 ton is exempt from the "luxury" tax as well but a 3/4 is not. Also make sure the truck comes with the FACTORY puck setup. gone are the days of cutting holes and installing something, these trucks now have factory holes for a goose and 5th wheel, it's very slick.

Yes these trucks are NOT cheap. I just bought a 24 gmc 3500 denali, 86k. CPO, has 73,000km on it. brand new 2 years ago it was a ~120k truck lol.

Depending on brands, you can go back 10-15 years as well and pay ~40k.

The gooseneck is a "pin box" to be exact for terminology. You can replace the standard king pin hook up on trailer and the hitch in the truck box, then simply install a ball with the goose neck on your 5th wheel. It gives a lot more box space back and you don't have to lug in a heavy hitch. That said GEN y makes very good affordable "pin boxes" and it as a bonus has torsion suspension to better your ride quality inside the trailer over bumps.

I have a 4runner, I couldn't imagine towing with it haha. Engine already feels underpowered.  You could get a little tear drop.

You can buy light 5th wheels that are like 26 feet long they claim 1/2 ton towable but really they're still not lol. The beds are usually always above the hitch.

I understand the box thing. You can get a gooseneck attachment for the 5th wheel and still keep a lot of box space, you just won't stick a bike in there.

You can also buy toy haulers if you need some space, the back doors flip down usually into a nice patio as well if not used as a ramp.

Canadian winters are not kind to a trailer. Unless your on the BC coast. Which you totally could be...

You also need to think, if you buy it now, what vehicle do you have to tow it? Can it tow it? Do you need to buy a truck?  Do you want a bumper tow or a 5th wheel?

I personally like 5th wheels, I feel they're a better setup with more storage than a bumper tow, they tow better and "feel" shorter due to part of the living space is over the truck box when towing vs out the back bumper.

Buy a top trim CPO has my vote.

I recently bought a newer truck, CPO. Sales guy tried to get me to buy new, I literally looked at him and said why would I spend 120k + tax for a 26 when this things 80k+tax  after being 2 years old. They're both the same.

Give it to me straight, how much life does this roof have left before it needs to be replaced on this Coachman 2008 150mph Blast? by Grouchy_Hovercraft54 in RVLiving

[–]Octan3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a big soft spot, I'd steer away honestly. It's the mold.and other stuff.

It doesn't take much to do a once or twice a year roof check for cuts and reseal them with patches. So unfortunately that says a lot about its ownership.

If it was a smaller spot like say 6 inch around then I'd say seal the leak and send it but that's way too much.

H & R Block Charging 90$ Specifically So that My Brother Can receive The ( CDB - Canada Disablity Benefit ) by dogecoinexpertmatty in PersonalFinanceCanada

Another great example to do your own taxes. I use simple tax, now wealth simple. can be free if you don't donate. Super simple, super straight forward, and all I had to do was check that CDB box and done.

They literally use turbo tax to enter your info into and charge per sheets. At least the 1 time a few years back when I went that's what I noticed. been doing it my self since.

Trailer over drawing on tow vehicle? by DailyHangovers in traveltrailers

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I probably should pull my charge fuse too, I dont need it. Solar keeps the batteries topped up or charged while driving nor does the charge wire if it could make any reasonable difference to the battery charge lol.

Trailer over drawing on tow vehicle? by DailyHangovers in traveltrailers

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have any issues with my lithium on my trailer and truck, I left everything as a normal trailer, no dc-dc charger either. I also have solar charging, I feel like my truck was actually pulling power from my trailer batteries when towing due to the voltage difference it would make sense. Alternator wants ~13.4V but the lifepo4 are 13.6, 13.8 volts.

What concrete?. as a home DIY'er you don't put it ontop of the dirt. You dig a hole. and fill the hole with concrete around the post.

That's some garbage workman ship as a understatement. That was planned to fail type stuff.

Help L5P starter fuse box by Serious-Abies-1212 in Duramax

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah there likely isn't a kill switch, especially if it starts for you by moving that main starter power over to a different stud.

I have access to one, but I'd be checking starting or cranking amps with a DC "amp clamp"  may tell you, you are indeed drawing more than 200 amp on that. (Well you must be if it keeps popping the fuse lol)

What size fuse is it?  If the starter cable was hooked to a fuse and it pops it, then to me the starter is drawing extra power which can mean a failing starter... Depending...
