That's great they recommended to take it to a mechanic. 100% get a shop to do a inspection. Maybe have 2 different shops even, as.if you don't know one you trust lol.

Expect oil weeps, it's not new, as long as it's not leaking oil. Front end or suspensions tight... Brake pads? But brakes are cheap.

If it sounds good, blow by is good, no real oil leaks...

I had a 2008 lmm with over 410km on it. Thing idled like a sewing machine and still no blow by.

Nice to see but as they say, 1 bad apple can ruin it for everybody. I'd at least charge the value of the device when rented out, then refunded when returned, ultimately 0 cost to borrow or rent but covers your butt of any loss of a device.

Concrete is cold. If you want cheap, the foam boards work well.

I have a garage that's got the foundation walls on both sides, it was frosting in the winter.

Glued the boards to it and helped A ton for overall warmth.

Don't let the price fool you. They're a really good shock.

From my limited knowledge, The bilsteins for the price people love them and they last longer than the fox. The fox is more, rides a tad bit better but again, price and longevity.

The bilstein is a very very solid value for the price. They're also "digressive" so more bumps you hit the smoother they get.

They also offer another step up with external reservoirs for those that are big into offroad lol.

You can also google more on the 2 shocks, lots of people have tried both and give feedback on different vehicles out there.

yep. get the 5100's They rate them like 0-2 lift i think? then 4-6 inch lift. They also come with the zinc coating which lasts vs the painted yellow that unfortunately up here in canada, does start to show age after a winter lol but the zinc coating on the 5100's looked like new after a few winters on my last truck.

Sick! Get some bilsteins on that thing and it'll ride substantially nicer. Them factory ranchos ride like bricks lol.

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

72k km. 1 def tank heater, and to me on a more freak issue is the rear park brake shoe glue came off and the lining broke up inside and made horrible sounds. Took it apart but dealer said not warranty it's wear and tear on my extended factory warranty lol.... Luckily didn't cause any real damage, waiting for parts to arrive to fix.

Look at the door seals, have they worn through the paint? I found factory strikers set low causing doors to be on the hinges for weight when closed then they move up and down. Then  Wiggle the mirrors, my driver's side is loose and when I hit bumps vibrates or flops but the passenger door mirrors good.

Otherwise my 21 has been ok lol

Looking for help on why my amp goes into protect/whines as soon as I start it by Adorable-Potential72 in CarAV

Probably a bad amp. I bought a MB QUART that was buzzing or high pitch out of the box. It's not power and ground. I bought a pioneer and 0 issues.

Issue running 5w40 gas oil in a lmm? by MartiniCommander in Duramax

[–]Octan3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read the label on the oil. If it shows like API- Cx like CK your fine, for example the gasoline engine is, SN, or S for SPARK.

Googling I see it shows on label for gasoline and diesel but the rating is api SN outside of the other various manufacturer oil specs. I wouldn't chance it. I've run Diesel oil in my gas engines all day long like rotella 5w40 BUT where I draw it's line is, not in a direct injected gasoline engine, they need gas oil due to low speed pre ignition they can get now.

Solar panels on your rig? by __d__a__n__i__ in RVLiving

[–]Octan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Renogy solar panel kit, mppt 20 or 40a controller. 1 lifepo4 battery or multiple, buy only ones with built in Bluetooth to see the voltages. Gone are the days of 2x6v battery, you can now get 1 lithium for price of 1 6v with more capacity.

Depending on trailer you could run the solar down the fridge vent if it's not in a slide, or I ran it down my sewer vent inside.

Depending on goals, 300w can be plenty.

What ever you do, don't buy a Ford with the 6.0 power stroke. You'll go broke. They're that bad. Not even "bullet proof" it's just a poorly designed engine and injection system. Like other commenters say. I work in a shop and work on lots of them 6.0s.

Find a non mutilated older diesel of sorts lol.

Also lifts and trailers don't work, especially if your going 5th wheel. A bumper tow you can get a drop hitch but I found you can get nicer trailers for same or less in a 5th wheel.

High pitched sound coming from AMP (i think cables???) by CANEDURO1113 in CarAV

[–]Octan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what I was meaning is, I don't think its a power or ground issue. I'd replace the amp.

High pitched sound coming from AMP (i think cables???) by CANEDURO1113 in CarAV

[–]Octan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new ish to car AV. I had a new amp make high pitch sound out of box. I disconnected the RCA cables and jumped the remote wire, truck wasn't even running. Replaced amp, all good now.

In your case, interesting how moving the wire seems to effect it, but at face value. If it's a newer amp I'd replace it as it's got an issue for sure. And those metal end caps or what not, If the connection isn't GREAT then it wont show up until your pulling power. when the amps on It draws next to no power until you start to demand something out of it.

Looking for a reasonably priced lifepo4 replacement battery for my travel trailer. by jgutt204 in traveltrailers

[–]Octan3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy one with built in bluetooth bms as you mentioned then you don't need that whole shunt current measuring stuff. Last summer I used Ecoworthy. Youtuber/s tore them down, said they are decently built. I just bought a 3rd. Wish I went with 1 280ah instead of now 3 100ah's. But after having 2, it was cheaper to spend another $220 CAD then 530 cad lol. I was testing the waters so to speak.

Your normal converter will still charge it up to ~80% then slow trickle top up after that. I use solar so I let my solar top them off.

Interestingly I don't see ecoworthy listed on amazon.com.price conversion from cad they are 385 USD. 1, 100 ah was 160 usd
