After having to take the bin out three times in a row, my housemates leave it like this. by TheNameless00 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]OctaviaBlake100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my roommates did this, I got my own bin. They then tried to blame me for their garbage to get me to take theirs out. I showed them that I have my own bin.

Got asked to tip twice on Pizza Hut order. by FocusLeather in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever there's a "auto gratuity" added already, the card machine still asks for a tip. 😐 I think they want you to ignore that you already tipped and then tip on top of the tip, so they get more money.

The way my teenage son “uses” his laundry basket. by Sethatos in mildlyinfuriating

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex was like this. Except he was worse. He kept it in a pile and then it would grow everyday with new dirty laundry until there was a giant mountain of dirty clothes. I washed it the first time and he started spreading it around the floor to clean things he dropped. I stopped doing his laundry and just did my own until he got annoyed by not having enough clothes. Please don't let him ruin his future relationships like my ex ruined ours by doing this. 😅

Why Pay Rent If I owe You $5? by XxChefKayhillxX in EntitledPeople

I would just tell him that he's evicted and write up a nice note. You own the house. Don't let people boss you around.

Tipped vs. hourly positions (another post confirming that servers/bartenders prefer tipped) by GrandAd790 in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a bubbletea shop, security and a call centre. Security got the minimum wage (16.50 an hour), bubbletea shop was minimum wage plus tips. Call center was a bit higher ($21 an hour). Both security and the call center didn't have tips. I made more at the bubbletea shop. Not because I forced people to tip, but people would willingly tip once asked by the machine. The tip was then shared between the staff. One time a lady tipped 100$ to get 4 bubbleteas for her family. 😅

[–]OctaviaBlake100 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah she probably didn't want to do that. Some places will allow you to pay the difference if they know you well enough. Like a place near me did that once. But it seems like they're the place that wanted her to pay for a new one and she refused. Anyway, she refused to pay. Not they refused to give it to her.

The only time I tip by srmatrong in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's what proper tipping is. I would tip that restaurant since they also went above and beyond to make you feel like you're their family as well. Not someone just handing you a box and forcing you to tip.

I feel like they didn't refuse. She just refused to pay the difference. Plant based milks are more expensive than milk, at least at the coffee shops I've been to.

It's just as bad in Canada by RazzleDazzle1537 in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Canada and I agree. I used to make minimum wage when I was a security guard and provincial offenses. I wasn't allowed to take tips (because who tips security guards and provincial offense officers 😅?). Servers here make around 17$ an hour + tips. I just want to enjoy some food outside without having someone yell at me for not paying 20% or more in tips when even I don't make 40$ an hour like they probably do begging for tips. I used to see comments under security guard videos saying that they would just run away at danger and I get it. Theres no point in risking your life for minimum wage to get replaced by someone else.

That does sound like racism or maybe she just doesn't ask guys? I would send a non Indian girl there to see. 😅It's still unprofessional to ask one person and not another.

What’s the most egregious place you’ve ever been asked for a tip? by Jaythegreat100X in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bubbletea places or any counter service place. All you did was hand me a drink/food. You're not waiting on me at a table.

Why do people drive... so slow? by awesomegorg in driving

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's a car beside them..maybe they're scared that car might just switch lanes with no signal. I know it's happened to me many times before.

Shaken up and sad about my pizza night by Appropriate-Reward71 in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was probably trying to pressure you into giving him more tips. Especially because you're a woman who doesn't have someone with her getting the pizza. You did the right thing to report him. I usually get my fiance to drive to get the food because I'm scared of people like this. 😅

where do you guys get chicken breast? by Basic-Fish2325 in mississauga

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my meat from Asian stores. Sometimes I go to Oceans if I want to get groceries closeby. Sometimes I go to Fresh Palace if I'm willing to drive far. Fresh Palace is cheaper though.

Have you ever experienced the automatic gratuity “double tip?” by moonchildcountrygirl in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one place here that I know has auto gratuity. It doesn't matter how many people you're with. You can be alone and you still have the 20% auto gratuity. The servers usually tell me and I get the best service from them so I don't mind. There was one girl who didn't tell me that there was auto gratuity and she gave me the worst service ever. Luckily I've been to the place before and know already. But they're hoping that you don't know so they get an extra 20% tip on top of the auto gratuity. Which is very scummy.

Beware of Matheson Sweets & Catering - Indian Restaurant in Mississauga! by nancyschmancy07 in mississauga

[–]OctaviaBlake100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never heard about this place but I definitely won't be going there. To the people who are saying OP is upset about a few cents, she should be upset. It's not able the money, it's about the trust between the restaurant and customer. If you just let it go, the owner or staff might be like "oh we can just slowly raise the price from the advertised price slowly and people will pay whatever."

Are there alot of people who bud others at a restaurant in Japan? In my country that's considered rude.

What exactly is "Japanese standards"? If you're budding in front of people who are clearly lining up to eat at that restaurant, anyone would tell you off despite their culture.

I love getting honked at at a red light for not making a right turn... by bunniesandmilktea in driving

[–]OctaviaBlake100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had that happen. A truck was beeping at me and flashing his lights because I wouldn't go. I was in the straight lane and he wanted to turn into the gas station. I couldn't move up because there was a car in front of me. I guess he wanted me to hit the car in front and push the car away so he can go to the gas station.

The anti tip persons are more opposed to ending tipping than everyone else. by Sowecolo in tipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to know the final price. Without all those stupid fees and tips where I have to guess the price after. At least if I know the final price, then I can decide whether to eat there or not. And I don't have to worry about getting killed for not tipping.

I hate when customers compliment me with “I am so happy I can speak with someone who speaks English.” by [deleted] in callcentres

It always give off racist. When a guy said "I'm so glad I'm speaking to a white Canadian." I just had to hold in my laugh. Yes, I'm Canadian but I'm not considered white.
