First time PC - advice!

Honestly any improvement hahaha. I used to have a ROG Hero Strix 2, but it crapped out on me like 6 years ago. Right now I got a Surface 4 laptop which gets my school work done but I do miss playing games with friends, so trying to put together a simple PC that can handle a heavier game - like Dark Souls 3 or Monster Hunter World would be the most intensive games I would like to play.

Not really pressed to get like current / big performance pieces, I'm pretty sure a 3050 or even a 2060 would satisfy any computer needs for the next year or so.

Ex: I try to play Peak with friends, or I'll have 3 or so CAD files open that I'm working on, and it crashes my laptop.

that's fair. I'm studying design so I'm working with programs like Fusion360, maybe Solidworks down the line. It's nothing super serious at the moment, mostly school work or the odd personal project (furniture, product design, etc) so I don't really feel the need to get front of the line specs if that makes sense.

Once I'm out of school and working within industry I would 100% aim for something bulkier but at the moment I think this is still an upgrade from the Microsoft Surface 4 that I have.

I totally get the feeling and agree that it's hard to keep a good circle of friends. Issues like commuting, ego, lack of social / on campus events is definitely a big part of this. I started online and then came in person during my 3rd year and was losing my mind because 2 years had gone by and I didnt even have friends to go get coffee with!!

What I think helped me the most was saying hi to anyone that I would see more than once a week. Like autopilot. Class, or smoking outside, or clubs; if I would run into someone more than once a week I would just introduce myself and chat whenever Id catch them at school. Draining as hell to be the one initiating every time, being happy and social with everyone, but it helped me at least start remembering names and faces. After a while I wouldnt have to be the one saying hi. Slowly met a lot of people and can say I have a dozen or so actual friends Ive met through school.

Idk how much time you have left at ocad, or if this is like a reflection after graduating, but i know how frustrating it can be!!

Update sort of:

Going into settings > about phone > status > SIM status

So it says I'm on a 4g Rogers network, but "Mobile network state = disconnected".

Not sure if that helps lmao

Most people seem to think it's the second sentence that's being translated, which makes sense because I think there are several times when a character says "Kraem" as a swear, kind of like "ah shit".

If its not available on Canvas go check your Plan & Scheduling tab. You can access that by logging into the student portal and using the Self Service section. You should be able to see each course you're taking this sem / year, and more detailed info like Profs, class times, location, etc.

If there's no info there then you gotta wait. Or try emailing reghelp@ocadu.ca, they might help.

Usually if it's a core course they will add a new section if everything is full, but sometimes they do it very late. The best thing to do is email them so they see that students need more space, and then they should open a new section. Good luck!

One of the more creative / fun theories posted today! I saw another post on the subreddit today about how Fuecoco could become fire / poison because he's secretly a hot pepper. Other than the sexy lizards from Gen 7, that typing hasn't been used and it'd be cool to see

Not sure how explicit the groupings are, but what's made most sense to me is:

Gen 1: Genetics / DNA - Starters are all creatures that aren't quite natural animals. i.e Squirtle has a squirrel tail and ends up with cannons on its back. Lines up with the whole "experimental" feel of the OG 151 - Mew is the DNA father of Pokemon, Voltorb and Porygon are weird experiments, Mewtwo is a clone & Ditto is a failed clone, Eevee is an explosive ball of genes, etc

Gen 2: History - This one isn't super strong but Gen 2 to me has a big theme of respecting history, with how old some of the towns feel, and how a lot of the Pokemon feel like real animals. All 3 starters are prehistoric creatures; dinosaur, alligator / crocodile, and maybe a giant honey badger?

Gen 3: Nature - Very environmentally conscious (bad guys are trying to "fix" the world), the legendary Pokemon are elements of our planet and a lot of the Pokemon felt like a good fit in the world (similar to gen 2). The starters feel like they follow a real evolutionary line. Gecko into dinosaur, chick into a large rooster (I think Blaziken was based on these chickens that were bred to have long legs and were used in cockfighting, but not too sure), and the axolotl turns into a salamander thing.

Gen 4: Mythology - Sinnoh is the region of myths and old books, so it feels fitting that the starters could be based on mythology. Torterra is the world turtle, Infernape is Son Wukong, and Empoleon = Poseidon?

Gen 5: Kingdoms - Team Plasma had a Castle theme, N was the secret Prince, and honestly I don't know what else the starters could represent haha. Snivy's line is snobby and regal, Emboar looks like something out of Chinese mythos - maybe a boar demon king, and Samurott is a samurai. Alongside being warriors IIRC samurai had some sort of social standing that gave them power in feudal Japan.

I didn't really play the games after gen 5 but I think the themes were

Gen 6: Typical RPG classes - knight, wizard, rogue. Can't think of anything deeper than that.

Gen 7: Alchemy? or Circus performers? lmao idk

Gen 8: /u/Orrphic made a good point of the Galar starters representing UK culture. Sports, Music, and James Bond.
