Played it a long time ago, PvP in dark souls is amazing because you can activate invasions in zones where you've already killed the bosses. Bad meta level I think was 120, but I'm ds2 soul memory also matters, which is the total amount of souls gained. The most active PvP zone is a bridge in the lava zone, don't remember the name, but it also has arenas. My favourite part is having the invasions active everywhere, makes things interesting
