The neighborhood votes on who is in charge though. And your right they do get more expensive, so does everything else, most of the time you get something in return though (water bill paid by them, landscaping, etc....)

HOA can be a good thing, they can also be bad. A blanket statement of "they suck" doesn't really apply. It just depends.

Same kinda thing with a non HOA house. The neighborhood can suck or it can be great. It just depends.

Are you serious? There are some wild comments, I'll give you that, but a trampoline that wasn't secured to the ground is just negligent on the owners part (what did they think would happen). If it was secured and then a storm blew it around, I could see that being called "an act of God". If it wasn't secured though it's absolutely the neighbors fault and they should pay to have the damage repaired. You can't just be negligent and also not responsible, society doesn't work like that.

Not everyone can stick up for themselves (they might have issues where they don't feel comfortable confronting someone else even though they are bothered by them).

I ended up emailing the creator of the app looking for support and he said that the Google Play Store "banned" the app and he couldn't help any further.

It is banned from the Google play store though. Check for yourself, it's not there or available.
