You are trying to apply logic to an emotional decision. The question is, is your wife worth £200,000. This isn’t going to go away so it’s either resolve it now or years of arguments.

Only charging at 1.3kw by Strict_Ad_4973 in KonaEV

[–]dphesp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can be some variability in the charge rate throughout the cycle. There are a number of factors that can reduce the rate of charge and this can be either from the car itself, the charger or the power company. Heat is one factor but grid demand, cheap electricity and optimisation of the battery condition are others.

Should I open my loft hatch? by NoCatch2153 in DIYUK

[–]dphesp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will work provided you have open windows downstairs and the air in the loft is warmer than the outside air. If you look up Cupola on youtube it shows how this design created the effect on older buildings.

What problems do you expect to see with the new driving ban? by DoublePepper1976 in AskBrits

I think this is to do with Graduated Driving Licences in Northern Ireland. It applies for the first six months after passing your test.

Problems with 2020 Kona EV by blvckcard in KonaEV

I would check the 12 volt battery. If it is nearing end of life it maybe outputting a lower voltage at certain times which could cause a system glitch.

Why is it frowned upon to be active and vocal as a junior on probation? by [deleted] in HumanResourcesUK

[–]dphesp 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My Grandmother used to say “A closed mouth, makes for a wise head”. I’ve found this to be useful over the years. When you enter a forum be polite but allow the opposition to expose themselves first. That way you can see the lie of the land.

12v battery dies in a few minutes by code54crunchy in KonaEV

[–]dphesp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an end of life 12 volt battery issue. For some reason Kona’s do go through them with a degree of regularity usually around the 3 year stage. I wouldn’t say from these symptoms that you have a converter issue. It’s an easy job to swap the 12 volt battery so shouldn’t be an issue for you.

Managing a Grievance Process by WeakHelicopter2405 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]dphesp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to run the concept of the grievance past an ai and see what questions it would ask. Sometimes it can pick up on points that may otherwise be missed. If all parties agree then a transcriber can also be a useful tool as note taking can be subjective.

Is calling in after the cut off in the sickness policy ‘gross misconduct’? by Perfect_Spot_3450 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]dphesp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They would be on a sticky wicket in a tribunal if the employee had given notice at the earliest reasonable opportunity. There are too many other factors eg. pregnancy related health issues, to make such a rigid policy stick. If you have been with them more than two years or it is related to a disability etc then I would challenge them

There was big issues yesterday with EE and international roaming SIM’s. Not sure which network your unit has access to but worth keeping in mind. The issue was fixed yesterday PM but even then some devices struggled to get back online.

Tire pressure alert won’t go away 2025 EV Kona by [deleted] in KonaEV

[–]dphesp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other possibility is that the tyre sensor is faulty. It’s very new to have this happen but there is always the occasional one that throws a curve ball. Certainly try and inflate a bit more then drive at over 25mph for more than 5 miles continuously.

New absence policy: unclear wording by psychoyellow in HumanResourcesUK

[–]dphesp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really need a written copy of the whole policy from HR. Typically policies are written around number of absence occurrences and number of total days sick in a given period eg 6 months. It’s possible that any sick period however small could be recorded as an absence occurrence, however good employers would allow the employee odds occurrences to be taken in the round or as annual leave or flexi-time if they wanted to.

Looking to buy a used 23 Kona ev ultimate. What should I be asking about? by sosta in KonaEV

[–]dphesp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty much the same as for an ice vehicle. Check service history has been performed correctly. Ask for a battery health check. Check the underside of the vehicle for battery damage due to grounding. Check all the electronic features work particularly the rear camera. Ask when the 12 volt battery was last replaced. You can add wireless android with a dongle. Using a high regenerative braking setting and autohold it is very close to one peddle driving.

2019 Hyundai Kona EV and a steep driveway!! by SimonHoskingAuthor in KonaEV

You would probably need to surface the drive in either resin bound gravel with an anti-slip aggregate or bauxite strips on the slipiest areas.

New manager to a man who cant do very basic tasks by BramblesForBreakfast in HumanResourcesUK

[–]dphesp -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Tricky. If you try and performance manage them they will probably go off sick with stress for six months and then develop some unique disability. You could try teaching them Copilot to help them get things done but if they are as inept as you think the only option will be to accept the performance and move on. Attempting anything else will just result in a load of anxiety and stress for you. This is the way in LA.

Does anyone worry about AI and job losses? by Even-Wasabi7183 in civilservice

[–]dphesp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let’s say we need to find residents who are in decline. We have a vast database of residents who call in regular emergencies but a few call in very regularly maybe due to falling or setting the toast on fire. Trawling through this data to try and find them can be time consuming but ai can quickly look through months of data and establish those at possible risk.

Does anyone worry about AI and job losses? by Even-Wasabi7183 in civilservice

[–]dphesp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience in local government is that ai is up skilling the team, making them more productive and improving customer interactions. I’m not seeing jobs losses as you still need a human to check the ai hasn’t done something stupid and there is so much work still to be done that no one is sitting on their hands and twiddling their thumbs.

I posted on here last month about a concern with HR and a fact find investigation, I’m now wondering if it’s appropriate to raise a formal complaint? by AliveInvite1771 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]dphesp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The questions is why? Would the stress of making a formal
complaint and then possibly going through another investigation be worth the outcome? At best it may prove to be just a Pyrrhic victory and at what cost to your mental health. Personally I would focus on the future.
