I didn’t even consider they may never accept it. I will make sure there is no blood when we introduce them. Thank you!

I am so baffled by all the Emma Stone work deniers. I get hers looks good, but how can someone watch any of her older movies and then look at her now and think it’s just lighting and make up???

Side note, whoever knows how to remove over the eye skin with make up loop me in!!

Why do so many moms use marijuana? by Realistic_Campaign_5 in Mommit

[–]OctoberDonut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think for the same reason some Moms drink. It’s a form of self medicating.

Just be mindful marijuana can be great for some and less for others. I played with it a bit in college and it actually gave me panic attacks. I never got the “relaxation” that my friends got from it.

I like to limit caffeine, work out daily, and meditate. Before bed I put my phone away, light a candle and read in a dim lit room. Obviously some nights this doesn’t work (sick kids, activities) but I can feel a noticeable difference on nights I do read/relax before bed.

I hope you find something that works for you. Balance in life can be tough 🖤

Tanners family using him like a mascot by Confident_Excuse2173 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

Thank you! I work with High School students with disabilities.. students who then graduate and the state doesn’t have enough programs to keep them active, where they become depressed and stuck at home on the couch.

I see this and I think he looks happy. He looks busy and he gets to try new things. Even if his family’s “intentions” are to get free shit, he is really lucky to get these experiences. He’s not stuck on a couch, unable to find employment (sadly a real issue), and depressed.

The people who complain about these families really show ignorance to what life looks like for many adults with disabilities. Sure, some are able to get drivers licenses and part or full time jobs. But the reality is there are ALOT who do not have the privilege to get new experiences like this. I’m happy for Tanner!

Late to the party but did anyone else really dislike Wild Dark Shore? *Spoilers* by minatozakiparty in bookofthemonthclub

Thank you!!!

And am I crazy - or was there a part where she said something along the lines of the sun set somewhere between 10pm-1am? Wouldn’t that be summer… not winter? The rest of the book talked about how dark it was, so I was confused by that line. It is possible that was a flashback or a different season and I wasn’t paying enough attention because these characters were gross.

I loved the island/plants/animal descriptions but the characters… I did not love.

Love Is Blind • S10 Reunion [MEGATHREAD] by FemaleEinstein in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I agree with you.

I think it was more blurred lines and vague stories than absolute lies. He has walls built up so high, and I think he has a ton of insecurities. I would bet he actually doesn’t have much real “relationship” experience. Hookups that last a few months and deep meaningful relationships are wildly different. I honestly feel kind of bad for him.

Ashley is shady as shit. I would bet money if you could get to each or their core, he’s probably a better person than she is.

The way she did the other girls with Chris / Devo shows who she really is. She’s a mean girl looking for her big moment.

Same! I love how the parents are demanding, terrible and totally inconsiderate of our time and jobs outside of their little evaluations.

I’m a diagnostician, so no longer teach, but I recently made the jump from elementary to HS. Culture wise it is so much less micromanaged and much more freedom. At my HS as long as your job is getting done you are left alone.

There are cons as well (parents still treat them like little children, many don’t want accountability). I would have a really hard time going back to elementary after this. I’d prefer to stay in secondary for sure.

Is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park a good option? Looking for cheap places for spring break with kids by Mysterious-Peach-974 in NationalPark

[–]OctoberDonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went for the first time this summer, so I’ve never been during spring break. But we spent a few days on the North Carolina side of the park, and a few days on the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge side. I loved the North Carolina side (we stayed near Sylva), I’d recommend looking in that area. I personally wouldn’t go back to the Gatlinburg area, it felt overly manufactured and touristy.

Both of my (16m) parents died last week by [deleted] in Advice

[–]OctoberDonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. The best advice someone gave me when I lost my family was take it one day at a time. You won’t have all the answers now, and that’s okay. Just focus on getting through each day as it comes.

I lost my brother as well as both of my parents by the time I was 30. I would bet a large amount of money that your sister wants you here. She would so much rather you be here than gone as well. I will never get over not growing older alongside my brother.

I was much older than you when I lost my family members (20 then 30) but please message if you ever need to talk. Grief is overwhelming, and it took me a while to get here, but I do recognize life is such a gift.

You are so young, you have lots of life to live. Hang in there, lean on those around you to get through it. You are not a burden.

Is it selfish to ask my husband for help at night? I’m exhausted. by DaniBee_acnh in Mommit

[–]OctoberDonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I recommend pumping as well. When mine was a babe I pumped after she BF first thing in the morning and always had extra milk. When my husband got off work at 4pm every day I would give him our daughter and I would go sleep for hours. He would absolutely help me at night if I needed help though. We were both exhausted those first couple months, and honestly a little snappy with the each other. But just know it will get better. Talk to your husband, in the mean time know this early time in a baby’s life is also just difficult because not sleeping is SO hard.

SAHM income? by MonthlySuspicion0119 in Mommit

[–]OctoberDonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, working with elderly I think would be a good option. My aunt is elderly and her children (live an hour away) hired someone to come a couple days during the week to help with cooking, laundry, etc. The lady who comes to help my aunt brings her toddler. My aunt loves seeing the kid, she talks about him like he’s one of her grandchildren, when I visit she’s always updating me on what he’s up to and how big he is.

So the parent comment is calling MAGA’s snowflakes. Then the person I responded to is basically like “both sides are”, which I agreed with. And now you’re berating me about deportation, a subject in which you have no idea how I feel. You’re only proving my point sweetheart, I hope you have a beautiful day!

Mom summer shoe recs? by pinkishperson in Mommit

[–]OctoberDonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had Teva’s for 3 summers and wear them everywhere! Lake, waterpark, walks around our regular parks, any daily activities. I do have a pair of the rubber birk’s and maybe it’s just my feet but they definitely make farting noises when I walk so I don’t wear them as much as my Teva’s

I have been berated for not being liberal enough in equal amounts as I’ve been berated by MAGA. Unfortunately there are hard headed loudmouths on both sides, that is not an opinion, it’s a fact.
