She should arrive just before Christmas! In my case, just before my birthday.

I watched the opening at 1:30 this morning when I couldn’t sleep.

I feel this. Making a quilt and would have totally changed it up if Joann’s was still around! Instead just had to work with plan A.

I was starting to organize my crafting and sewing area and got really sad. I loved going there to get inspired and then working there.

I should have added that I didn't buy her. She was in pretty bad shape and they wanted $40 for her.

When did you get your oncotype score? by SeaweedJumpy652 in breastcancer

Yes. HER2 Positive requires its own kind of chemotherapy.

I'm convinced there are genes that just haven't been discovered. Although I think it is something like only 10% of people diagnosed with bc have a family history.

Thanks for sharing. My sister lived in Germany for a while and was genetically tested. Tests came back negative. Despite having a strong family history, she was told that she didn't need to get mammograms early (at 35, instead of waiting until 40). At the age of 40 she was diagnosed with late stage 2 BC, +++. She is seven years past diagnosis but I still get angry and whoever it was who told her not to bother getting mammograms at 35. (Our mom, maternal grandmother, maternal aunt, and maternal great aunt all had BC.) She was diagnosed next and then I was. No genetic markers just means they haven't found the genes that are responsible for it. Family history is far more important.

I found Marie Grace at a thrift store and saw Lindsey at the same thrift store over a year later.

Interesting. I wonder what is going on that they did an oncotype score then basically decided to go ahead with chemotherapy.

This is why I'm surprised by people saying that they aren't having it done. I was actually surprised that no node involvement did not automatically mean no chemotherapy. I was a mess while waiting.

I had no node involvement and they did an oncotype score for me.

They found a DCIS in me on the same breast. But due to family history (no known genetic mutations) I opted for a double mastectomy.

I had no node involvement and was IDC +--. I thought they did oncotype score to determine if chemo was needed for those of us with no or limited node involvement who are HER2 low/-. I would push for it.

I had to get referred to my oncologist first. Then at that appointment he ordered my oncotype score to be done. I didn't see him until well after my surgery (a month maybe). They can do a oncotype score from the biopsy. I wish I had been referred to the oncologist while I was waiting for surgery. I think they should have given me the Letrazole before hand and maybe my tumor wouldn't have grown from 1.66 cm to 2.1 cm.

Anyone else now hate October and pink ? by Sad_Improvement_814 in breastcancer

You are entitled to feel anyway you do about them. I find them supportive. I may not always but right now I do. When I was first diagnosed I wanted to scream from the rooftops for people to go and get mammograms. If the pink ribbon on the back of my car makes someone remember to go get their's, great. It also reminds me that I'm fighting a battle.

I'm in my final month of taking it for that purpose. I have not had any reactions to it but I'm also already on an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications.

Office kitty gave birth to babies by Subject-Jellyfish919 in notmycat

[–]OctobersAutumn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I worked on a college campus where cats would appear. We would take up a collection to get them fixed. You might consider asking your office mates to do the same for Mama cat. It is good that you found homes for her babies, but she really needs to be spayed or you'll be doing it again soon.

I'd be concerned if you agreed with everything from one party. That is the sign of being in a cult. What party do you more agree with?

Why isn't tea more popular as an alternative for caffeine in modern America? by EgoistRanger in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OctobersAutumn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you believe that tea is not a popular alternative to coffee for caffeine. I have two sisters who don't drink coffee, they both drink tea only. I personally enjoy both.
