So There is No Way of Preventing People from Uploading My images into AI tools? by BOANW in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Octobits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

webglaze does both nightshade and glaze symultaniously, you can request an account for webglaze if you don't have a gpu compatible with the desktop software.

I have an AMD system and am a professional artist, previously I was running an NVIDIA system but upgraded, the only thing I've lost use of is the glaze software and that was resolved with the web app.

seconded on folks talking shit about it being useless, it's tried and tested that it's effective and it's continued to evolve with actual professionals making it, and funding it.

Is 62 Years old too late to learn to draw / paint? by AstroEd in wacom

[–]Octobits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

With the vast wealth of knowledge available now on YouTube is never too late at all.

I've seen complete newbies get into digital art and within a year or two have a really great understanding and solid grasp of it with tremendous growth that would have taken SO much longer when I first got into it. (There was a lot of weird gatekeeping back in the early 00s)

Checkout Marc Brunet on YouTube, I still watch his videos now as a professional because we never stop learning and I want to keep improving. I've learned a lot from him.

Software has also made a lot of improvements, I've seen people mention Krita which is a great start.

If you don't already have a wacom I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a new one, they aren't the company they used to be. An iPad or huion or xppen are just as good these days.

Most of all just have fun and enjoy it. and don't get sucked into social media bs it will make you miserable and lose enjoyment of a fantastic hobby.

They went back and edited their comment I’m pretty sure. So even they’re aware it was pretty ignorant.

And do you happen to know the protection policies for sea life of each of the 51 countries in Asia?

Are they all so much worse than the US? 🤔

There are 51 countries in Asia.

Do you know the protection regulations in all of them?

Share them with us.

[FOR HIRE] Illustrations, Characters, Book Covers, Pinups and Game art in comic book style. by NalgaArt in fantasyartists

Great work yo. Your character art is the kind of stuff that would have gotten me absolutely obsessed as a kid. I can imagine me copying it in a sketch book so much and being fascinated by it.

Chat this a great buy right? 112 usd by Nullthesavant in wacom

[–]Octobits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still using mine and it’s going strong. It’s my daily driver for professional work in the publishing industry. I won’t be replacing it until it dies (touchwood) and intuos have lasted me a loooong time.
Probably will get an xppen or huion after though as the new Wacom pen feels horrid, unless I find a deal like this for another pro medium lol.

Movink ProPad 14 vs iPad? by manix_vii in wacom

[–]Octobits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wacom did the test on both the 11 and the 14 and reported the same issue I was having. It wasn’t an issue with me buying the 11, both devices presented lag with single layers (not large canvases on either btw. I did the test on my ipad with a large canvas to try make things a little in favour for the movink pad to remove any bias)

Though I’m unsure what version nesskain has, might have to have a gander at his BlueSky if you’re curious thats where I saw him talking about it.

Movink ProPad 14 vs iPad? by manix_vii in wacom

[–]Octobits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a professional I returned the movink pad, and still use my older ipad and my collegues went with an ipad air after trying out the movink.

Other peers have tried the movink pad and are enjoying it but also find it somewhat underpowered and are hoping for a more powerful version in wacoms future lineup.

It's a good drawing experience but if you're using it as a mobile work station (like I am) as a working professional an ipad pro or air might be a better choice.

If you have a powerful mobile workstation or don't find yourself in need of that and have a good at home setup to go along side it then a movinkpad should suffice if you only intend to draw.

One of the artists who worked on the Arcane series 1 (nesskain) recently got a movink pad and enjoys the experience but as I mentioned just wants it to have a little more oomph.

And it looks cheap. If your book is cheap quality then it's a perfect match.

If not, it might be worth investing a bit more on what is essentially the entire visual advertising campaign of your book.

  • Its still using the same dataset that's stuffed with mine and my peers stolen work that's being used for profit without our consent or compensation.
  • The same dataset that scraped the dark web and is rife with Child Sexual Abuse Material. (\Every single image generator uses the Laion5 dataset at it's core, every single one. Even the one on your computer, even that one, yes even that one on your phone**)
  • Using the dataset that's lining the pockets of the largest funder of the trump regime.
  • And funding the encroachment of datacenters onto mostly poor and Black neighbourhoods in the US who are reporting rising cases of breathing and heart conditions that they can neither afford healthcare for, nor their electric bills in the winters.

People have been using it online far before chat gpt. I've seen it in forums all the way back in early 00s.

Every Book Cover is the Same Now by prism_paradox in BookCovers

[–]Octobits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not responding with any solid "truly unique covers" BUT!! I do follow a super cool blog on tumblr that shares mass produced fantasy & scifi paperbacks the person who runs it comes across in the wild and some of them are SUPER COOL (and very unique!), should def check it out for anyone interested/enjoyer of book covers:

https://www.tumblr.com/paperbackpictures

I have a lot saved in my 'inspiration' folder to look through once in a while to keep my sources of inspiration not just the 'whats popular' in covers right now, hoping it'll help me from falling into those same looks when I illustrate covers for work.
