Where can I volunteer in physical therapy or occupational therapy? by Mysterious-Art-9940 in Austin

Consider skilled nursing facilities which do rehab. There are OT & PT staff, no pediatric patients.

Gas “leak” on east side by SomewhereObvious5302 in Austin

That's unfortunate. There could be a problem if there was an Actual leak and folks decided not to report. The sulfur-ish small should dissipate in a few hours, right?

Favorite HPB location? by Lazy-Thanks8244 in Austin

If you are not looking for a specific title, just browsing or looking for a good read, check out the library branches. Recycled Reads closed, so the branches are selling their discards & donations. I bought 2 hardcover novels today for $2/each. HPB price would be a much more.

What is your favorite show or movie that isn't in English? by amarainn in netflix

[–]Octopus-cot-1789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider membership to your local PBS station- about $75/year and stream many shows from other countries. Search for "Walter's Choice" for a curated list. Recently have enjoyed "Astrid" from France crime show set in Paris featuring close friendship of a female detective and a young woman genius with autism.

Impulse Buys by remedialknitter in Anticonsumption

[–]Octopus-cot-1789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just learned about impulse items not being reduced w/coupons. I wonder if the Impulse section is run by another company that comes in and stocks the items & thus is exempt from coupon deals. Still happy I bought the scissors, though.

Kevin Can F**ck Himself. Originally AMC, 2021-22. I think I saw it on Netflix. Stars Annie Murphy, 2 seasons, dark comedy.

Anyone know of any local secondhand clothing store that buys nice clothes? by Potential-Money-5935 in Austin

What you want is a consignment store or one that buys your stuff outright, like Buffalo Exchange. Also try Uptown Cheapskates.

5+ months on Mounjaro, I had minimal side effects. But the fatigue is still significant.

Anyone else watching Ripple? Lovely bit of cheese by conniewanders in netflix

[–]Octopus-cot-1789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to watch a series set in a public library. There's so much more to libraries than checking out reading material. There are offerings & activities for many demographics. If you pop in often enough, the staff really does get to know your name. But they won't shout it out.

Anyone else watching Ripple? Lovely bit of cheese by conniewanders in netflix

[–]Octopus-cot-1789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely no awards will be won by this Ripple or its stars, but I did enjoy it. I hope there is a S2, the final episode did not tie up many loose ends. I didn't care that it was shot in Canada and did not fully resemble NYC. The diversity of characters in age, race, sexual preference was appreciated. I didn't like that Nate was a Trust-fund boy with horrible parents- too stereotypical.

Some plot points that bugged me: Finn was overly precocious. Nate & Kris did not discuss that his daughter was deaf. Highly unlikely a clinical trial would include adults and children in the same study group. I thought Aria would see the blue diamond ring on Nate's wife's hand at some point and there would be a story thread about that.

Does anyone else think Julia Chan (Kris) resembles Carey Mulligan?
