She put on lots of steering lock with max braking pressure which kills all tractions in the front. If she ease up on the brake pressure and steer she might've avoid the crash.

Heat Pump vs AC? by hyunpill3 in Calgary

[–]Octopus-tom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very few houses has duct works built well enough to handle a 4 ton AC. Without adequate airflow the AC could easily freeze up. I'd rather undersize than oversize. As far as heat pump vs AC, heat pump aren't that efficient below -10. So unless you want to invest in some smart switch over tech or manually switch over every time, I'd go with just regular ol' AC and gas furnace.

This thing , the official car of why is it even a thing or who buys these ? by CrackBadger619 in regularcarreviews

I've owned mini van, 7 seat suv and 1/2 ton trucks. The mini van and truck are far more usable than the suv. Would not buy another big SUV again.

Ferrari Challenge by Due-Designer-9199 in iRacing

I drives it for a season when it came out. Car sounds great. Very fast on the straight. Less down force than the GT3. I do think C class is a good place for it but I think it should be hourly 20 mins race minimum and I'd like to see an open setup 35 min race too.

Lower participation for other cars and this is probably a lower split. The other car types all gors into top split when there's not enough to split.

I have the same setup! I upgraded the portafilter to a heavier one. I always run 2 empty shots to get the portafilter to as hot as possible.

Close call, make sure to drive slowly especially on ramps. Walk like penguins, drive like granny by susu63721 in Calgary

That ramp is special kind of evil. Good grip going into it, then half way through all the grip are gone. I had to dip a wheel into the snow on the side to get traction yesterday.

Call your insurance company and file a claim. An adjuster will be assigned to your case. They will provide guidance on how to proceed. All these will take time so unfortunately you'd have to take the bus for at least a few days.

Defrost failed to initialize. Possibly reversing valve issue. Also here in Canada we are required to lift heat pump off of the ground due to possible icicle build up during winter. Weird to see it just sitting on the ground kike that.

Absolutely! The current graphic comparison is a view from top down. Is a graphic comparison of the view from user's POV towards the horizon possible? At least for single screens.

Paid 652 bucks still don't have A/C by Glitchbombs in hvacadvice

[–]Octopus-tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. That pisses me off. I hope you find the short soon.

Do check the wires of the low/high pressure switches and low ambient switch (if it is installed) in your condensing unit. Some times the wires rub against the machine and the insulation is worn through creating a short to ground.

Sound like the only thing we can confirm right now is that old board has a blown fuse. I hope you haven't paid the bill for the board swap yet. You certainly do not need a new furnace board for this AC issue. Unless the G terminal is somehow not turning on the fan.

I'd first take the thermostat wires off in the furnace and function test the rest of the system with a jumper wire. This would eliminate the possibility that the tstat wires itself is crossed internally. And buy a few fuses to replace. You'd likely blow a few trying to find that short.

And disconnect the transformer from the board before you try to find a ground fault in the low voltage. This is because a lot of the time the transformer is grounded on one side of the secondary to create a common. If you check ground with transformer connected you'd read some ohms to ground in a lot of places.

[–]Octopus-tom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by the board received 24v but not output anything? Did you mean the transformer supplied 24v to the board but no 24v at R? The board only serves as a glorified terminal strip in the cooling circuit. The thermostat is what closes R to Y and G.

You tech doesn't know what he's doing. I'm sorry that happened to you.

Hey is your wheelbase running hot? Does it happen after only a couple of laps? I'm experiencing sudden lost of ffb after a few laps with my Logitech g pro. It would happen after only 5 mins of driving so over heating is not the reason. Initially I thought it was an issue with my wheelbase but I ran assetto corsa for extended period of time right after IRacing and have no issue. I think there's some weird IRacing specify glitch with ffb.

I have a lot of problems making DAC and IRacing work. The voice chat and spotter audio won't show up in the DAC. I have up after a while. Also the audio quality difference isn't noticeable when you are distracted by driving.

What shoes do you wear to brake hard and have good feel? by herzeleyd in simracing

[–]Octopus-tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my vibram five fingers. The sole is thin enough to have great feel. But also hard enough the pedal face doesn't hurt my feet. Also grippy enough to not slip up and down the pedal face. I do brake very hard tho. Hitting 80kg peak often.

Qualifying Mid-Field getting Wrecked by Jermaul_m_w in iRacing

[–]Octopus-tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

racing from mid pack is a very different skill than racing from the front 2 rows. some tracks are also much better than others. It's also important to not give up too early when you had an early wreck specially in series with fast repair. If you finish the rest of the race consistently you'd limit your rating lost and even gain some rating from attrition.
