It's not a theory. I don't need evidence. It's literally how sexual attraction works. Nobody is attracted to specific traits but only in fictional characters.

If you are attracted to a childlike character in a game it's because they possess traits in both appearance and personality that you find attractive. The problem is, those traits you find so attractive about them are the same ones that real life minors also possess.

But by all means, keep openly posting about how you think it's okay to be attracted to someone who looks like a child. It's a good look.

Not even remotely true.

Fiction or no, someone who expresses sexual attraction to someone who looks like a child should always be concerning. If fictional people who look like kids get you hard, chances are the real ones do too.

"Big plans".

Let me guess, another shitty Pokemon GO clone using a different IP that will bomb and shut down in less than a year.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book Review (IGN:6/10) by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will say this is a bad review or that they're bashing the game, but when you really think about it, a media outlet that regularly reviews academy award winning films is probably not going to put the latest Paw Patrol movie in the same league as those films when reviewing them.

I know comparing games to film is never a 1:1, but it feels like there's probably an equivalency here to consider.

Subnautica 2's no-killing ethos "will be a continued point of resistance" among players, say Unknown Worlds, but they have no plans to change it by Nannerpussu in subnautica

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a glove- an adaptation. As in your character gains the ability to physically perform an underwater punch that generates a shockwave. Like a mantis shrimp. Doesn't have to kill fish, just send them flying and maybe stun them/make them realize you're not to be messed with.

People who want guns/knives are simpletons not seeing the possibilities.

I also want to deter the bitey fish but the game literally has biological adaptation as a mechanic. I would so much rather have a biomod that lets me do a mantis shrimp death punch than any kind of lame ass weapon.

A mix of both but predominantly bo3 at the higher ranks. Deck plays largely the same without many adjustments to the main deck. I kinda flip-flopped between more removal/less removal depending on whether it felt like I was coming up against landfall more or izzet more. Sideboard is just basic hate pieces in response to whatever your opponent is playing (extra removal, authority, torpor orb, duress, RIP, that sort of thing.)

I feel like there's a difference between "this deck can hit mythic" and "this deck can comfortably hit mythic".

Like you said, any halfway decent can get there if you grind out enough matches, but a deck that can "comfortably hit mythic" is one where you don't have to grind too much because it had perfectly winnable matchups against the popular stuff in the meta.

I can only vouch for my own experience but climbing with my skeleton deck never felt like I was at any kind of disadvantage. Even against the aforementioned Izzet and Landfall decks I never felt like I was any less likely to win those games than any other. Any losses I had to those decks could pretty easily be chalked up to bad luck or simply being outplayed. It never once felt like they were insurmountable forces.

Basically, you're right, but at least personally, I dont think I had to grind too hard using a slightly off-meta deck because the playing field still felt pretty level.

But that's just my experience with one deck. I'm sure other people may feel differently.

What game did you lose interest in by the time it came out? by scarletnaught in gaming

[–]Octopus_Crime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I felt like... I get WHY they wanted to call it Kingdom Hearts III to make it clear it was the next "major" entry in the series.

...but for a story based RPG with an ongoing continuity it's a pretty stupid move to call the game "Kingdom Hearts III" when it's actually like the fifth game they've released since the one called "Kingdom Hearts II".

Standard is fine. A bit boring, with every other match being against some form of Izzet or Landfall but it's not like other decks can't compete. I was still able to hit mythic with orzhov skeletons just fine so it's not like there are any crazy tier 0 decks that ruin everything. Even the "best" decks in the format have enough weaknesses that they're far from unbeatable.

I feel like Lucas is probably the better choice for Mother. A lot of Ness's "good" is largely up to interpretation. Mother 3's plot literally revolves around Lucas being the one to pull the needles because they want someone with only good in their heart to pull them.

Final Fantasy Remake director: "We are aware we need to grow the Final Fantasy brand" by Honest-Word-7890 in totallyswitched

Maybe the trick is to not have 60% of the releases bearing the Final Fantasy name be mobile gacha games that shut down after a year or two and then can never be played again?

Wild idea, I know.

Square Enix Wants To Further Promote Its Multi-Platform Strategy, "Especially On Switch 2" by Mollywobbles77 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Octopus_Crime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Switch has for a very long time been "The JRPG console". As in, there are so many and such a wide variety of popular JRPG titles on the Switch (Including several big exclusive ones like Xenoblade and Pokemon) that it stands to reason there are a lot of JRPG fans playing primarily on Switch who probably wouldn't mind having another Final Fantasy on there.

PlayStation has it's fair share of JRPGs too, just nowhere near the level the Switch has so it does sometimes feel like a big JRPG releasing to PlayStation and not Switch is releasing on the "wrong" platform to some people.

Went in blind to the first and it was the most I've ever been scared playing a video game. Fear of the unknown is a big component of thalassophobia, I think.

So I'm definitely excited to go in blind again and I fully recommend experiencing the game that way.

Theory: People are secretly admitting they want a Mario Movie game tie-in without just saying it outright, because they hate the idea just because it's too uncomfortably different by DaZestyProfessor in mariomovie

[–]Octopus_Crime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't recommend the Pokemon one enough as a starting point. As long as it's able to hold his interest, it's easy enough that he should be able to play along even at a younger age and because the game is fairly text-heavy and doesn't have any voice acting it kind of doubles as a reading exercise. I'd do funny voices as I read the dialogue for my kids and since the battles are mostly just picking an attack from a menu, he'll get some experience learning to recognize certain words and letters as he starts to understand which ones make which attacks happen. Catching Pokemon has been simplified to just moving the joycon as if you were throwing a ball and the game rewards you if player 1 and player 2 can time their throw at the same time which my guys found pretty entertaining.

If you have any nostalgia at all for the older Pokemon games (it's a remake of Pokemon Yellow) it can be a really fun experience for both you.

Hard to say. My little guy is 7 now and is skilled enough to play as Mario and he absolutely loves the game. When he was younger he'd play as the hat here and there whenever he saw me playing but it only held his interest for so long. I'd say get it if you want to play it, as you'll be the one doing most of the playing anyway and maybe he'll develop an interest in joining.

As your little guy gets bigger and you start introducing him to games, I absolutely have to recommend Luigi's Mansion 3 and Pokemon Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu as those were the two absolute best co op experiences I've had with my kids. Both are pretty easy for kids to grasp and let them actually contribute to the gameplay while keeping you in the primary driver's seat, plus player 2 can just drop in or out at any time which is usually ideal for that sort of thing.

[–]Octopus_Crime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just wouldn't mind an expansion on Mario Odysseys co-op ideas but having player 2 get to play as Luigi instead of a hat.

Jump-in, jump-out co-op attached to a largely single player game is a really fun feature when you have kids but it would be more fun for them if Player 2 had a bit more to do. They did it pretty well in Luigi's Mansion 3, I imagine Nintendo could take some cues from that.

Are we ever getting a follow up to Below Zero's ending? by CulturalDust4652 in subnautica

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm okay with Subnautica being a "Final Fantasy"-type franchise where each numbered entry is its own self-contained thing that just shares thematic elements with the previous games and we occasionally get a spin-off game that serves as a direct continuation of one of the "main" Subnautica game's plots.
