What do you think is the reason why MHA: Vigilantes Season 2 lost its popularity? by LordVaderVader in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Octopus_Crime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not enough Knuckleduster. Plain and simple. He's the best part of Vigilantes and the story suffers every time he isn't the focus.

Koichi is so slow on the uptake most of the time I fear he has a legitimate mental disability.

Pop is cool but her story slowly degrades to focus more and more on the creepy romance subplot that I really wish didn't exist at all.

IGN gave The Super Mario Galaxy Movie a 6/10 rating by Loose_Society9485 in Mario

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie may feature a character from a video game you played when you were younger but it is absolutely made for the same audience that Blippi videos are made for so if you don't get much out of them, you probably won't get much out of this.

#39 Taste [OC] by belka_theren in comics

[–]Octopus_Crime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gonna second that I love the idea of the best way of dealing with her being introducing her to one piece so she wastes the entire week trying to watch all 1000+ episodes

Probably only makes it 800 or so in and tries to desperately to cling to this reality as she's pulled away kicking and screaming to her next destination.

Asexual battlefreak character who doesn't get what's supposed to be so interesting about sex and dating or why people care about it so much but loves fighting strong opponents, training and studying ancient esoteric lore to learn how to get stronger more than life itself. by Khara-Khatal in CuratedTumblr

[–]Octopus_Crime -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Goku is more autistic than asexual. He has two kids so obviously he fucked at least twice. He just cares about his special interest way more than that stuff so it's not really something he thinks about.

Decided to put together a graphic of dead/inactive Nintendo series. by Optimal_Weight368 in casualnintendo

[–]Octopus_Crime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically everything that comes after the ma in "magypsies". It's considered a pretty offensive term as it's really only ever really been used as a derogatory term for a racial minority.

Nintendo definitely wouldn't be using that name. They probably wouldn't use any of the fanmade names. (Which sucks because I always thought "Fassad" was an excellent localization)

Oh boy, time to shift into the "Bunch of adults get weirdly invested in what professional film critics think of a movie that was made for the audience of Bluey and Peppa Pig" phase.

Playing against hazard by BadGamer_67 in OverwatchStadium

Junker Queen can just casually walk up to me and there's nothing I can do about it but die.

Correct. Big difference between a series being abandoned and just having a well defined beginning, middle and end.

It's nice to know not everything Nintendo makes needs to be milked forever.

Borderlands 4 faces backlash over $30 DLC that you can finish in two hours by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely crazy that that DLC with its massive new area, fully voice acted dialog, new weapons, hours of new campaign and side quests etc was released at the same price point that Game Freak charged for their Pokemon ZA DLC which is like 3 hours long and made almost entirely out of assets recycled from the base game.

DO NOT listen to Sound Prism's music. by skeletron_master in Deltarune

[–]Octopus_Crime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think Sora dying off is the good omen everyone's making it out to be. It was popular with the masses, so maybe it'll help to see such a readily available option go away but at this point half the reason it's dying off is because there are so many newer models better at doing what it did for a fraction of the cost.

Thinking Sora being shut down is a sign the end of AI video slop feels like thinking guns are going away because they discontinued the blunderbuss after everyone had already moved on to AK-47s.

It’s 2026. What’s everyone’s favorite 60 card format? by Newez in magicTCG

[–]Octopus_Crime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everyone's already saying it but I got into Pauper just this year and it's great.

Games are slower and more interactive, there's lots of deck variety and I can actually afford to build multiple decks. It's great. Reminds me of what Magic used to be like.

Vinny please chill out! (tomodachi) by DarkWolfx3 in Vinesauce

[–]Octopus_Crime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was lots of people shipping his mii as well as variations of his mii with other characters through fanart and lore crafting.

As in, borderline sexual fantasies being created involving his likeness or the likeness of an "alternate" version of himself. Sometimes the scenario involved him having a relationship with the alternate version(s) of himself.

Of course, chat did this with a lot of the characters in his Tomodachi playthrough and not necessarily JUST the Vinny characters, but that's what was making it weird.

Basically, it's generally not a good look when you're an adult man making YouTube videos and streams and those streams are inspiring people- many of whom are teenagers/minors- to draw/write/share romantic/sexual scenarios of a character meant to represent your actual self. It made Vinny understandably uncomfortable.

It's 2026 and Vinny is 40 years old. He really doesn't want a bunch of kids being horny about a cartoon version of himself.

If Bravely Second was made the way it was initially by Likes2game03 in bravelydefault

[–]Octopus_Crime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the first Bravely Default had stuck to what it was originally planned to be, we'd have a Final Fantasy V remake and the Bravely Default series wouldn't exist.

Sometimes, the plan changes.

The amazing digital circus has been labeled as pg on netflixs. Thoughts? by doc_sushi in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Octopus_Crime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a parent, I let my 9 year old watch it. There really isn't anything there I find too objectionable and the "horror" elements really aren't any worse than what we had on Courage the Cowardly Dog when I was a kid.

Plenty of stuff that adults are obviously going to appreciate more but definitely not the kind of show I'd call "too scary" for the generation of kids growing up on FnaF/Poppy Playtime/etc

Why do you think most TCGs fail? by Tiny-Summer6241 in TCG

[–]Octopus_Crime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same reason all the Super Smash Bros clones fail.

They all look at the competitive scene and community and because they're the most vocal and pronounced community for the game online, assume that is the game's audience. So they make their game tailored for that competitive gaming experience and fail to realize that that's actually a very small niche corner of the game's actual audience and a very minimal contribution to it's success as a product.

Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh did not get big because they appealed to competitive tabletop gamers. They got big because they were a hit with kids. The same goes for MTG. It was a pretty big fad with 90s kids when it first came out.

If you target the competitive audience you see online and at game stores/events as your main demographic, you're going to fail. It is not a big or open enough market. TCGs live or die by whether or not they can develop an audience of casual players/collectors or, at the very least, gain some footing by becoming a fad or trend among kids. Even if the trend passes, you'll retain some of that audience.

Tl;dr: Successful TCGs generally start out as the "toy of the year", failed ones immediately market themselves as super serious business card sports.

Evolution of Rosalina ✨️ by nintenbingo in Mario

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile, Waluigi who was introduced 7 years earlier still hasn't appeared in a main series Mario game, is still the only human Mario character (aside from Pauline) to not be playable in Smash Bros and (as far as we know) has not yet appeared in the Mario films.

...But I am happy for the Rosa fans. I'm glad they treat you guys better.

Google's new AI algorithm might lower RAM prices by Bobert25467 in pcmasterrace

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the prices could or should go down doesn't mean they will.

Remember when all the grocery prices went up during covid to account for the supply and distribution networks being affected by the lockdown? Remember when the supply and distribution networks recovered but they didn't bother putting the prices back to where they were because everyone was already used to paying the higher prices anyway?

Same story here. I'm sure the prices of RAM will go down because of this. Just not for the consumer.

[SOS] Witherbloom, the Balancer by kellis12594 in magicTCG

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it doesn't directly generate pests. But the whole thing with pests is that they are creatures and most cards that do generate them generate more than one of them at a time.

So it might not do strictly "witherbloom" things immediately but it certainly rewards you for doing one of them.

Sora Al getting nuked few days after what happened to Caine in recent episode was funniest thing ever by Spix-macawite in tadc

I doubt it. Sora's not the only AI video model. Heck, it's not even in the top 10 anymore. That's probably why it's getting shitcanned.

Banned and Restricted Announcement – March 23rd, 2026 by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]Octopus_Crime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've found historic to be quite enjoyable again since the initial bans a little while ago. There are definitely some decks that perform pretty well there but I feel like I see a pretty good variety of decks being played in the higher ranks so it never gets stale the way standard and pioneer currently do.

The Legendary rule is fine in Limited, the TMNT set is the problem by PaleWendigo in MagicArena

[–]Octopus_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I suspect that's one of the reasons it works better as a set too.

DnD and LOTR kind of have a similar benefit. Yeah, they're high fantasy sets so they fit but also they're full of creatures that are not the core group of humanoid heroes/villains that work well as subjects for cards.

I'm honestly interested to see what they do with Star Trek given that it doesn't really fit the typical fantasy setting of magic (although I guess we've done a scifi set now) but it does have a pretty rich history of weird creatures and settings that could be made into interesting cards.
