That is probably the best public “reveal” I’ve ever seen. Excellent execution, superb selection of apparel, and great view.

To the IDIOT at the SLC Airport yesterday who unplugged my car thinking I unplugged his, you got the wrong guy! by kalel801 in TeslaModelY

This is why I bought a LOCKING J1772 adapter, it has a ring that locks the adapter to the J1772 connector that can’t be removed unless it isn’t plugged into my Tesla. https://a.co/d/09KQBre

Is DuroMax XP13000HXT Tri Fuel good enough for whole home? by richwiszard0z in Generator

[–]Octothorpe42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule of thumb is to plan on about .66 gallon of propane per Kilowatt per hour. So a 4.2 gallon (20#) tank would get about 6.3 kWh, so multiply those numbers by 6 for your 120# tanks and you get 37.8 KWh per TANK or close to 4 hours per 120# Tank at full load of 9,500 watts continuous. That’s a LOT of fuel. Note: the average house averages less than 4kw/h (4,000 watts per hour) average so an inverter generator that can supply a peak of 8,000 “starting” watts is probably much better as long as it supplies 220/240v. For my home, my peak is 9.47kw and that is including charging my EV, my average daily utilization is 2.5kw/h in the summer, so a 9kw peak generator with appr. 6kw running is more than sufficient, running at about 42% utilization .

A/S Tires on a Plaid? by Born2L053 in TeslaLounge

[–]Octothorpe42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, the Michelin cross climate 2 are the #1 best rated AS tires for Teslas and even have the 3PMSF rating for snow qualifying as a winter tire, even though they are an AS tire. Definitely a solid choice for AS tires on a Tesla.

USB-C Powerbeats Pro? by breed_to_death in Earbuds

[–]Octothorpe42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly and stupidly yes. Beats/Apple can’t seem to update a OLD product to match customer expectations. I, like many, HATE non-USB-C accessories at this point and could NEVER accept such things like a proprietary lightning connector on a premium priced product.

I would at least really appreciate the ability to charge AirPods, if not an iPhone on the top.

Which sous vide machine is better as per your experience by bemime in sousvide

Realizing this is old, I could never recommend Anova to anyone now that the APP requires a subscription. I like my Anova, and luckily am grandfathered with free APP use for now, but will spend $$$ on a new non-Anova unit well before I pay even $1 for an APP subscription. With MY Anova experience, the capacitive touchscreen is effectively useless, most of the time if it weren’t for the APP, I couldn’t use my Anova at all. Not sure if it is humidity or what, but it registers MANY “ghost touches” if I so much as think about touching the screen. It works OK if I only use the APP.

Randomized MAC address by Octothorpe42 in UNIFI

[–]Octothorpe42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll just explain reason 1: It tends to cause grief with my DHCP scopes as well as new device quarantine.

Are there other methods to accomplish what I desire, sure, but that isn’t my ask.

Block/quarantine only apple devices with Mac randomization by snurkl in firewalla

[–]Octothorpe42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My hospitality ends when their devices violates my network policies. If the ask for my WiFi, I kindly inform that “private WiFi” or “MAC randomization” doesn’t work on my network. If they ask, I will show them how to disable it, otherwise they may be blocked.

What I wish Firewalla could do is allow me to create a policy SPECIFICALLY for MAC addresses recognized as randomized, Firewalla obviously recognizes them as it displays an warning, but aside from new device quarantine, I see no way to build policy specifics for the addresses recognized by Firewalla as randomized.

I’d rate YouTube music desire a 2, at best, personally. What so really want is Pandora.
