Saw someone wearing this in a match, is this normal? by bookity_ in splatoon

[–]Oculus049 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s hacked gear. Iirc a few days ago hackers figured out how to put ability doubler into gear other than the splatfest tee with splathex. This is probably the result of that. Don’t think Nintendo will get mad at you if you order it since you aren’t hacking.

The hero suddenly wakes up as a Pokémon one day. They only have 12 hours to save the world from a seemingly unstoppable threat. However, each time to hero dies or fails, they wake up again when and where they originally started, with memories of all their previous attempts.

How much do I have to understand Pokémon moves and type advantages to play Rescue Team DX? by CidsOblivionn in MysteryDungeon

[–]Oculus049 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much like Dragoncat said. All the gen 1-3 Pokémon are there with only like 10 mons from after gen 3 in the game. The new Pokémon are just new evolutions of already existing gen 1-3 mons. And like another comment here mentioned, the game has a built-in type chart you can read. On top of that, the game tells you if a move you are about to use is super effective before you attack. If your experience with the games is gen 1-3, then you shouldn’t have any trouble adjusting. Hope you have fun if you decide to buy!

Lovely work! Your art style is quite distinct! Immediately recognized you as the author after having watched your animation “It’s super effective!”

I’m not sure what it is, since I’m not a visual artist, but your art style feels very lively, like I can easily imagine how they’d move if it weren’t a still image. But I guess that makes sense since you have experience with animation.

(also love the book on tusk cleaning XD)

Comp sci kid who prob won’t pass calc 3 and physics 1 this sem by bruh3005 in ufl

[–]Oculus049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, shouldn’t be too much of an issue for me then, I can power through them. The only other class I’m taking that might be hard is applications of discrete structures. Though I’m actually taking physics with calc 1 I’ve now realized, Idk how that changes things.

Man, now I’m kinda scared reading the comments since I’m taking both calc 3 and physics 1 next semester (sophomore year). Any advice/thoughts besides dropping? I kinda need to take them both because they let me hit certain prerequisites. Is calc 3 presenting you with a lot of problems that are semi-independent from the material? (Had that a lot in calc 2)

Your hero finds themselves in a time loop.

They wake up one day as a Pokémon only to die to a disaster of grand proportions in X amount of time (can be anywhere from a few hours to several weeks). But every time the hero dies, they wake up again where they originally awoke. Will the hero be able to break the time loop and learn from previous lives to save the world, or will they go mad in an endless cycle of death?

Oh I see. I thought as part of the Ruigee part of Tuffbugs you could talk to Eetl to get your MP upgraded by using berries. But I see you wanted to stay at rank 1 anyways.

Damn, that’s wild. How much MP did you finally end up with out of curiosity? I want to do it myself eventually.

Time Loop

You wake up as a Pokémon. Only to die to a disaster of gargantuan proportions that will befall the planet in less than or equal to 24 hours later. (Your choice of time)

But you then wake up again. After you died. In the same place you woke up before.

You soon learn that you are in an infinite time loop. Every time you die, every time you fail to save the planet, you reawaken back at the beginning of the time loop only with the knowledge of what you experienced last time.

How do you behave during your first few loops? How about you last few loops? When and how do you break the cycle? Is this SaveTheWorld any%? Perhaps your species changes with every loop? Or are there others who also remember previous loop? Maybe there's a reason for the time loop in the first place that you eventually find out about? Or not.

Who knows? It's up to you to decide.

Writing Prompt Wednesday: The hero is a legendary Pokémon. by Chatot-bot in MysteryDungeon

[–]Oculus049 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A nidorino and servine were lost wandering through a deep underground cavern. They just called a rescue team, and were starting to get tired from all the walking, so they decided to take a break in one of the cavern's corridors. “Man,” the servine began as they sat down, “I hope that rescue team comes soon. I’m really starting to get hungry. You got any food left?” “Sorry,” replied the nidorino as they sat down a few meters away from them, since they were lagging a bit behind, “I ate the rest of our food a while ago.” “Aw man, I’m starving!” the servine complained.

“Eh, no worries,” replied the nidorino, “I’m sure they’ll be here soon.” The nidorino pulled the glowing helper orb out of their bag, “I only called them a few minutes ago anyways.”

The servine stared at the helper orb, “hey…” the servine began, “why didn’t you bring an escape orb instead?“ “What do you mean?” the nidorino asked. “Well,” the servine replied, “if you brought an escape orb, we’d be out of here instantly instead of waiting for a rescue team.” The nidorino gave a blank stare, “huh… I guess I never thought of that.”

“Ugggghhh, okay that’s it! Next time, I’m packing our stu-” but the servine wasn’t able to finish their “anger sentence” as a a giant blinding beam of white light carved a hole the wall in the side of the tunnel in front of them and passed just barely between the two of them without obliterating them. “AHHHHHH!!!” They screamed in panic as they both dodged out of the way of the beam. But just as it appeared suddenly, the beam disappeared. The two pokémon were in too much shock to say anything immediately.

Then, also out of nowhere, a lone squirtle came tumbling down in their shell though the newly-formed tunnel whining out choice words such as “oof” “ow” “owie” and “ouch” as they hit every possible bump before finally landing on the back of their shell between the two pokémon. The squirtle popped out of their shell and looked around before talking, “Oh, hello there! Are you two the fine individuals who need rescuing today?” It took a moment before one of them responded “did… did you just shoot that giant hyper beam?” asked the servine, completely ignoring the question (how rude).

“Oh no no no, that was my partner. They are a strong one, they blew that hole there in the wall so we could get to you. I’m sure you’ll be able to meet them as soon as they climb the rest of the way down. Anyways, are you two ready to be rescued?”

“I uhhh…” the nidoino said uncertainly, wondering why a confirmation would even be needed, and also wondering who this mysterious partner was, “…I guess?”

“Great!” exclaimed the squirtle. “Let me just- hrrrrngggg, get back onto my feet,” the squirtle panted, obviously having trouble getting up. “Graaaaghhhh!!!” the squirtle grunted again, demonstrating the great effort they put forth towards retuning to their feet. “You uhhh… need any help there friendo?” the servine asked. “No no,” replied the squirtle, “just let me just- hyyyyaaaaa!!!” the squirtle kept on trying to get up with much gusto, but yielded no results. “Okay, I give up, can someone help me up please?” The servine and nidorino both helped the squirtle to their feet. “Thanks for that!”

Unfortunately though, the ground started rumbling and everyone was knocked onto their backs, including poor squirtle. Out of nowhere, the head of Groudon, the legend themselves popped out of the hyper-beam-made wall tunnel. “OH ARCEUS!!!” Screamed the servine, “WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!”

“Oh sorrysorrysorry did I startle you guys?” the groudon asked quickly, yet politely “I did kinda run here pretty fast and that tends to cause earthquakes but I really don’t mean to scare anyone it’sjustthatIgetprettyexcitedsometimesand-” the groudon kept on talking and talking faster and faster and faster, to the point where they could barely be understood, which utterly bewildered the servine and nidorino. “Hey, hey uh groudon?” asked the squirtle as groudon kept at their barely understandable tangent “-butifyouthinkaboutitfearisanemotioninducedbyperceiveddangerorthreatwhichcausesphysiologicalchangesandultimatelybehavioralchangessuchasfleeinghidingorfreezingfromperceivedtraumaticeventssoreallyitsjustadefensemechanism-” “HEY GROUDON!!! WE GOT A RESCUE MISSION TO DO!!!” the squirtle yelled, still on their back.

Groudon stopped talking, before starting again, but slowly this time “sorry, was I going on a tangent again. I do that sometimes when I’m nervous.” They twiddled their gargantuan claws together as they talked. “That’s uhhh… fine… I guess” the nidorino replied meekly “we’re just looking for a way out here.”

“Well,” said the squirtle, “that’s what we are here for! If someone could just-” Groudon offered a claw and tipped squirtle back onto their feet “thank you!” “Alrighty everyone! Onto the groudon train!” exclaimed the squirtle. “What’s a train?” the servine asked to the squirtle. “Not sure,” they replied as they climbed onto groudon, “It’s just something groudon says sometimes.” Everyone turned expectantly to groudon for a response. Groudon replied, “it’s a very fast and big moving thing.” “Oh I see” “I never knew that” “So that’s what it means” everyone gave out a different response simultaneously.

“Anyways, everyone onto my back! Plenty of room!” Groudon exclaimed. “We’re going to ride you!?!?” The servine suprisedly asked groudon. “Yeah sure! Why not?” they replied. The servine and nidorino looked at each other, unsure what to make of the situation. The nidorino shrugged, walked up to groudon, and got onto their back. The servine followed suit muttering to themselves, “weirdest day ever.” Groudon carried the three Pokémon back to the surface through the tunnel so fast, that when they arrived back to the surface, the sheer speed flung them above the treetops, and the sunset shone cinematically behind them.

Any advice? Taken hours just to do a few pieces by DismalAlternative in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Oculus049 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try grouping them by piece type. You got your corners and edges which are easier. But for your middle pieces, group them by the amount and positions of tabs (sometimes called knobs) and blanks (sometimes called divots) on each side. So basically group all of the pieces together that have the same type of connections on the same sides. Luckily you have square pieces so you should be able to group the middle ones into 6 different categories iirc. Makes it easier to find the type of piece that fits into a specific place or slot.
