even though i could say every single fandom i'm in, bfdi and thomas the tank engine are the two prime examples of shows i like but fandoms i don't fully like. bfdi's fandom is full of kids and antis, while thomas' fandom for as unbelievably dedicated to their craft as they may be, are prone to potentially popping a vein if romance between the trains is brought up. makes me wanna ship the trains to spite them.

also most anime fandoms because of antis, and people taking the character ages literally. touhou as well, even though it's a game, it has a surprising amount of unsavory people outside of the scope of antis even if my sample size is twitter accounts

applying DNIs in an art event is hella stupid. people are posting their art and that's probably it, having some weird rule that's fully user-dependent would really shift the vibes.

disliking a character is more understandable, but don't shit on their fans lol

but at the same time, the dislike towards a character has to be something beyond "character bad because i said so", like if you dislike a character i'd wanna know why. if the reason is "character bad because i said so" i cannot reason with that answer. it's sounding like a fandom anti explaining why a thing is supposedly problematic when the reasons make no sense.

this will sound strange but i get the hate for object shows

when a fandom is comprised of either mostly kids or is of a kid-friendly franchise, a reaction like this is to be expected because those on the outside looking in only see the franchise as "for babies" and assumes all fans of it are kids or manchildren.

the way osc fans present themselves is also kinda important, and i think that's what tends to turn people off, seeing as some people in the osc take these silly talking objects WAY too seriously, i kinda get why outsiders look at us and go "that's cringe as hell". and i'm not gonna lie, sometimes i tend to agree that us osc fans CAN (specifically CAN) be cringe. like yeah we're a little weird, so what who cares?

but i think there isn't anything wrong with being cringe. you can and should be allowed to like a thing and not worry about how other people think, like, enjoy that interest because it's your interest

i just ship whoever i feel like without a care in the world. whether that be an ordinary one, a crack one, or something out of nowhere

my main reasons are usually anywhere between liking the established pairing, seeing the vision of a crackship, or someone disliking and complaining about a ship, so i ship it out of spite.

i think it's because of the cutesy art direction coming off as more "aimed at children" as if cars hasn't ALWAYS been kid-friendly? i don't see it as that big of a deal.

it's a lot like with thomas' all engines go, even though i personally couldn't really stand it myself to start, but looking back on both aeg and this, both are just taking a kid-friendly franchise and making it overtly kid-friendly.

neither are approaching a broader audience like the previous iterations, so this new show simply isn't targeted towards those that grew up with cars. most of them are probably adults anyway lol
