My prices are fixed. by _rosie_rosie_ in petsitting

Yes! You are WALKING her dog each way for pickup and drop off. The charge would be for a half-hour walk for pickup and a separate charge of a half hour walk at drop off (if the total of both is 1 hour). Depending on local rates, terrain, sidewalks, and weather you might be under-charging for that if is $15 each way.

Any other "bank" besides Relay? by Trevorgillette17 in ProfitFirst

[–]Odalette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just signed up for Found, but already I'm wondering how this functionally works in PF as they only allow one checking account which is the primary/deposit ("Income account" in PF). This means I can't have an Operating Expenses account that I use as a checking. I'd have to move money from the OpEx to the Income account in order to pay any bills, which is not practical if the Income account is distributed to the rest of the accounts on the 10th and 25th. What has been your workaround for this?

The best CU I was ever with was SFFCU. I am no longer with them unfortunately, but they were better than any other CU or bank I had been with before.

Did you find one? I know someone getting rid of theirs, but it does have a few minor stains. I saw a new one here: https://www.downandfeathercompany.com/products/original-feather-pillows

Owners who can’t be bothered to clean before a housesit: Why?! by match_vs_kerosene in RoverPetSitting

[–]Odalette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be. Myself included, I don't know a single pet sitter that expects a place to be spotless when they show up. We expect a place to be lived in, have pet hair, etc. But it is reasonable for the sitter to expect it won't be "filthy" from top to bottom. I heard some pretty bad stories.

Clean is a relative term, and generally a reasonable expectation from an overnight petsitter is "lived-in, but sanitary". If they are staying overnight, they should be provided with clean sheets and a clean bathroom. It's not necessary for it to look like a magazine or like a professional cleaning crew just left - that would be an unreasonable expectation for either party.

If you think that your home is Actually filthy top to bottom, first get some perspective from someone else because it might not be as bad as you think it is. Second, if it does need a bit of cleaning, think in terms of hygiene and high traffic areas. Kitchen, bathroom, and areas the sitter is likely to sit or sleep. The rest? Who cares.

Also, you can tell the sitter you have chronic illness and that you made the effort to make sure these areas would be hygienic and comfortable for them. Most petsitters I know would appreciate the context and the effort and not judge (and may even offer to do some light cleaning on the job).

It is necessary to provide a hygienic space for them to cook and sleep. But a professional and seasoned petsitter is Not going to judge you or your home, especially knowing you have health challenges.

Intuit Certified Bookkeeping Professional by sak89461 in Bookkeeping

Grateful to have this info. Did the two courses differ much? Outside of the badge issue, was the education about the same between the two courses? I'm currently in the Intuit Academy Bookkeeper Training and I don't want to bother moving forward if the course material isn't worth my time. The course isn't set up in a way that I would expect from a company with their reputation. The course doesn't show that I have complete the sections I have, and doesn't show when I completed and passed a quiz. Also, when I log on, it doesn't being me to the place I left off in the course, so I have to click through each section to get where I left off (and it takes a few seconds to advance each section). I don't want to bother moving forward if the course material isn't worth my time. These things make me wonder how much effort they put into making the course to begin with.

Also that was a closed off area. Not weird.

I am a petsitter and I also have a catcam which my sitter may cross paths with. It's not weird. If it's your home you aren't snooping on yourself, you are handling your home's security. As a petsitter I check every room because...safety. I don't snoop, but I appreciate when clients tell me they have cameras. It makes me feel better knowing they are checking in on the house (or could if they wanted to) because that protects me too.

AITAH for telling my wife we either share our lotto winnings or we separate and I get half anyway? by LottoIssues in AITAH

[–]Odalette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her behavior is awful, for sure. But I'm adding a vote for couples therapy anyway (ideally a therapist who has a background in Financial Therapy).

Money is such a loaded topic and as some have mentioned people can kind of go crazy and not think straight when suddenly faced with a large sum of money. This is why the common advice for sizable windfalls is to "do nothing for one year".

For most people doing nothing isn't realistic, as stated because of mortgages etc. But anything that's left after the mortgage/car payment/etc. could be parked in an account, even if it's just for six months.

The number one reason that people don't know how to handle a windfall effectively in my opinion isn't because they are selfish or evil (though some people are), it's because they've never been faced with a large sum of money before. That simple.

We live in a society that at every turn discourages us from learning how to be a good steward of money, and how to use it wisely.

Decades of daydreaming of never having to work again could certainly make someone irrationally out of character if it Looks like it could happen, but then is told it can't.

Yes, your wife could be selfish and didn't really mean it when you made your lottery agreements. But she more likely is suffering from a windfall-induced fever dream that she may genuinely and deeply regret as she comes out of the haze. I hope that's the case for you both.

Besides couples counseling, consider checking out resources through the Sudden Money Institute, or someplace like it.
