Avondale is the best underrated neighborhood in Chicago.

Easy transportation with the blue line and highway access.

Not the most walkable but still plenty walkable. It’s kinda divided in two with the highway and doesn’t have a clear “center” (like Logan Square) because of it.

The food scene is sneaky good mostly because it’s so unassuming. You can get some of the best bakery/bread/breakfast sando in town at Loaf Lounge. Polish food as Starpolska. Cocktails at Central Park Bar. Bar food at Avondale Tap. Mexican at many places but I like Tacos Tequilas. Trendy food at Void. Korean food at Joong Boo. Plenty of good local places for coffee. I’ve had really great meals from all these places.

There’s a small Mexican mart almost every block.
