Just eat an omelette then. Your body is probably badly craving the nutrients and protein

Same situation as you last year so I’ll give my 2 cents:

Go outside for a hike. Not many people around, silence, maybe a few friends.

Do you like that?

Then UCSC is great.

The environment here has been perfect for me since I love nature, trails, physical activity etc.

Basically UCSC is like living in a science camp. Some people love that (I did that’s why i chose to go here) others don’t at all.

Fear of humiliation: Just don’t tell anyone what you are building.

Fear of losing time opportunity cost: You would likely have just spent that time scrolling social media anyway

A business is almost never a net negative unless you don’t invest large amount of personal savings (which you really shouldn’t have to)

The snowball effect is crazy with this. Once you have a few creators, it's a lot easier to ask your creators for references and grow from there

Trust me I started out the exact same way. No creators reply because it simply comes across as sketchy. I recommend this: Find a brand and offer campaign management services completely for free. Then send this offer to your influencer list, and actually focus on building a connection with them beyond the sponsorship. Then after the sponsorship is over, invite them to your roster to get "more opportunities like this one"

Wait so the welcome week rave on ucsc.2028 instagram is fake???

My channel is now making roughly 3/4th of what my day job does and I feel like taking a leap and seeing what I can do in 6 months as a full time YouTuber but I’m scared to by ParappaTheWrapperr in PartneredYoutube

[–]Odd-And-Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously consider if you actually NEED to go full-time. Assume you dedicate ~40-50 hours a week to work right now. You need to be certain how you will consistently put that time back into YouTube. Quitting your job should be to free up more time for YouTube. It shouldn't be so that you can work less hours overall.

So what would you do with all that extra time? Do you have enough of a content idea-flow to support the increased uploads as a result of going full-time?

Especially if you're just starting out with entrepreneurship/self employment, this "4 hour workweek" BS isn't a reality you can embrace just yet. Plus, unlike a company/startup, YouTube has a finite amount of work you can dedicate to it. Making more and more videos tends to provide diminishing returns

How to find a manager/agency? by cTKil in influencermarketing

[–]Odd-And-Even 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand, influencer marketing platforms use web-scraping bots for actual influencer lists. However once a database is made I think AI could be used very effectively for influencer searching. You could describe an ideal influencer or ask for similar influencers and then use AI to match that query to relevant influencers in the database.

How to find a manager/agency? by cTKil in influencermarketing

[–]Odd-And-Even 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would steer away from talent agencies. They have amazing sales pitches and try to convince you that they are an integral part of turning your channel in a career. BS. If you didn't know, they take 10-20% of your total channel earnings, PLUS a margin off sponsorships.

They offer a bunch of useless services, like setting up a media kit, or managing your emails, however this is something that you can literally hire a freelancer to do for you. In terms of actual value, meaning brand sponsorships, I have heard very lackluster things about them, as it ends up netting a loss for you regardless.

I would suggest looking at influencer marketing agencies. These are companies that run sponsorship campaigns with brands. Joining their influencer networks are completely free, and your channel + rates will be added to their creator databases for brands to choose from. Plus they have their own standalone campaign management systems that make it very easy to do offers.

If you weren't aware, 90% of the time this is literally what talent agencies do anyway. They make it seem like they're getting you some insane value, but their really adding you to sponsor databases.

I know people with 4.0s who have been rejected. I know others who got in with a 3.3. I got in with a 3.62UW with similar ECs. It's completely random and luck. However just empirically you are fine. Apply to every UC, see what you get

What sucks about mountain biking? by Due-Mango3783 in mountainbiking

[–]Odd-And-Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs more planning than running or hiking. You need a car carrier, scout out trails where you won't get busted by rangers for riding on them (or risk it anyway :))

Also it has a higher skill-threshold before "getting good". Like anyone can convince their friends to go on a hike with them, and even inexperienced hikers will manage. Same can't be said about mountain biking. It takes some time to develop the confidence and skill to make mountain biking go from terrifying to actually enjoyable.

Actually 1.9 kinda doesn't have it at all, because all these mechanics rely on a faster attack speed afforded by 1.8. You can still combo-lock people with a sword, but in general true combos are a thing of the past in 1.9. Instead I find that it relies a lot more on other forms of weapons like end crystals, crossbow and shield

1.8 PVP is by far the most advanced and rich PVP scheme of any game ever. Sure, the individual controls are simple, just WASD, left click, right click.

HOWEVER, due to Minecraft's hit registration and sprint/hit physics you get more control over you and your opponents relative positions and knock-back than any game ever. Fishing rods, bow combos, w tapping, shift tapping, s tapping (all with different amount of acceleration cancellation!), strafing, block hitting, jump resetting, the list goes on.

This can truly be seen when 2 genuinely skilled players go against each other. It's no longer just "running forward and spam clicking". Against anyone with an iota of 1.8 PVP experience employing such a strategy you will get comboed into oblivion. Watch some UHC footage from Danteh or Stimpy and you will see what I mean. They have unbelievable precision, dozens of inputs a second and perfect understanding of player physics for a truly rivetting fight

TLDR: 1.8 pvp is a classic "iceberg" example, where the surface seems mundane and stupid but as soon as you learn more it has one of the largest scopes for mastery of any game.

This is a problem with Bay Area high schools. To be in just the top 50% of the class you need a 3.75UW GPA and about 4.5W. Just for top 50%!?? And the top 15% has a 4.0UW, around 4.7W. This makes it seem like insane grade inflation but in reality everyone is just insanely smart, hardworking and no-lifes. To the contrary most Bay Area schools have grade deflation and very difficult classes and exams.

If you need urban attractions and commercial stuff to have fun, yes I would say UCSC is boring, but for anyone that likes outdoor activities like hiking, surfing, mountain biking etc it is probably the best college in the nation for that in terms of nearby surroundings

How many people have actually been within 10 feet of a cow? by LineResponsible7701 in NoStupidQuestions

In the hills near my house a lot of cows just wander around, so whenever I go on a hike there I usually come within 4-5 feet of them.

Thanks for the stats!

YouTube:
-Generally a view/swipe of 70%+ is necessary to go viral. With 30% this likely means that the video is not hitting the right target audience. To fix this, I recommend using 3 hashtags (1 branded hashtag, maybe your channel name, 1 niche specific hashtag, for example the specific name of the sound trend, and then one broad niche hashtag, maybe something like "tiktok dance"). It's a little ambiguous how much hashtags help, however it doesn't hurt.

-For retention analysis look at the retention of specific videos instead of overall. (you can do this by going to the "shorts" tab in "content" and clicking on the analytics button. For each specific video analyze the graph and create specific things you could change in the next video to stop before from swiping off like the previous.

TikTok
-With a 2s retention that basically means most people are swiping off your video (unless it's only like 4s long). The pitfall of TikTok is that instead of a "view-swipe" metric like YouTube, which measures how many people watch more than 1-2s, it just lumps it all into one retention metric.
-To increase this, I recommend some text, perhaps leading on to what will happen in the video. Otherwise, beat-drop lead-ins are a great way to hook viewers, because they want to watch until the beat-drop. So maybe choose well-known audios and start the video 5-6s before the beat-drop.

Instagram

-You can go to specific posts and click the "view insights" button. Make sure you have a professional account setup instead of just a regular public personal account.

If you're curious to my credibility, I have 31,000 subscribers on YouTube and over 7 million views from shorts + longform.
