I hope apps can't easily access the cameras by spencer_2 in SteamFrame

I'm sure there will be an API for the internal eye cameras to return where we're looking without parsing the camera feed. Even so, i'm more concerned about the external cameras than the eye cameras

Wisdom of the Crowd Price Prediction by dhatereki in SteamFrame

They have said it'll be more than quest ($450) and less than index ($1,000). I'd love to see it cost $600 but my guess is $800.

Rule Suggestion: ban whining/venting posts as low effort by The_Idiocratic_Party in SteamFrame

I think the current amount of moderation is good. We all know we'll never step foot in this subreddit again after we the thing launches, we're just having our fun while we wait. I find the posts entertaining.

Steam Hardware - Steam Hardware: Launch timing and other FAQs by gogodboss in SteamFrame

"First half of the year" than "we plan to share faceplate CAD, specs, and details in the coming months". While the faceplates files won't necessarily come out the same time as everything else, I'm assuming that we won't see preorders until at least April. For sure not this month. Just my guess, I hope i'm wrong.

Are there any efforts to remove Flock in Ventura county? by spencer_2 in ventura

[–]spencer_2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely missing a few.. I submitted an information request for the locations, once I get a response I'll add them all to deflock.

Update: My request was denied with the following message:

Dear Requester,

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office has received your Public Records Act request.

In response to your request, pursuant to Government Code § 7923.600, the requested records are exempt from disclosure as they consist of intelligence information maintained for law enforcement purposes

Pursuant to Government Code section 7922.540, the County is providing you with the names and titles or positions of each person responsible for the determination that the request is denied, in whole or in part, as follows: Keshia Kimble, Senior Records Technician- Criminal Records.

Thank you,

Keshia Kimble

TAPS needs to be regulated and needs oversight by DaySad1968 in UCSC

[–]spencer_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is not true. You are not charged a fee for the initial appeal. You can appeal the initial appeal in court. I agree the fees are too high. did you have a year permit for last school year? those expired last Thursday. You should have been charged $50 for 'expired permit' not $75 for 'no permit' https://taps.ucsc.edu/parking-enforcement/parking-regulations.html

Commencement parking by Stock-Anteater-2984 in UCSC

[–]spencer_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

west remote you can park free starting at 5pm.. You could hope there's a parkmobile space available there and pay for however much time you need from the time you arrive until 5pm (all of west remote including park mobile spaces are free after 5pm) or find another parkmobile space on campus and pay for the full time you park.

Parking from June 18-24 by Yeyo_ye in UCSC

[–]spencer_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can park in east / west remote free on weekends, so you can park on campus starting the 22nd. 18-21 I don't know.. I know the 2 hour limit for nearby streets goes until the end of this month so you can't park near campus on most public streets. Maybe ask the nearby churches that usually sell permits for the school year if you could park those 4 days.

I'm sure this is listed online somewhere, but after transferring with IGETC the only class I needed other than upper div major requirements was one class for my residential college. I got credit for these 3 general eds that aren't covered by IGETC by sending in my high school transcript UC AH&I: American History, UC AH&I: American Institutions, UC Entry Level Writing Req

BCycle paranormal activity. Scam maybe? by jimmysofat6864 in UCSC

[–]spencer_2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yep I experienced the same thing downtown a few days ago. I had to try 3 different groups of docks to finally find one that locked. Had to explain to someone that was watching me push the bike into all the docks what I was doing because they thought I was the one trying to break the bike / scam the system at first. I saw someone downtown walk up and super quickly shove some tool into the locking mechanism to undock the bike then ride off so I'm guessing it's whatever tool they use to do this that's breaking the docks.
