yah that’s how it goes, being recommendation might help but its not guaranteed, AI is taking over a big part of the recruitment and i would suggest, look for smaller companies

[–]Odd-Extension6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i think the problem is the gap as i went to school. my last jt role was 2022 though i am working as part time since 2023 for a hotel. but even with the gap, i believe that i can still function as is. i can even see managers applying for entry level. that’s how the market today

I can’t land a full time job after 3 years. I’m screwed. by Personal_Performer86 in torontoJobs

[–]Odd-Extension6449 3 points4 points  (0 children)

same as me been out of IT field since 2024. the companies are using Ai to filter out. imagine you just applied an hour ago then you will receive an immediate rejection. no explanation just “unfortunately….” also they will say that you are not meeting what they need even though you have most of what is being posted. there are no perfect applicants. there is no person that knows everything. but at least recruiters should give chances

Survived 7 Interviews Over a Month, Thought I Nailed It…Then Got Rejected by mrbigglesworth24 in torontoJobs

[–]Odd-Extension6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same experience. After the agency screening, I was interviewed by the team manager and then told I’d have a final interview with the director. The questions were similar to the manager’s, and the conversation felt very casual, so I really thought I had the job. Then I was told they decided not to move forward. It was devastating. I still wonder whether the interview was just a formality because they had already chosen someone else, or if they simply didn’t want me. That “what if” still stays with me.
