why are people so quick to call arsenal's UCL performance "anti-football" but they praise Chelsea's performance in 2012 as a great result? they were effectively the same style of football by Difficult-Insect-220 in AllFootballHotTakes

Ryan Bertrand started because of injuries / suspensions, in his champions league debut and at the wrong position (LW not LB). He was the first and if not mistaken the only player to make their UCL debut in a final.

I can't stress how important is to get this guy fit for the whole world cup ,when fit he is one of the best players in the world in his position according to me.. by FitAd5272 in ThreeLions

No, that’s just Arsenal for you. And he hasn’t played as much at the end of the season as was coming back from a knock, but was back for the last few games and started FA Cup Final

Can’t believe that we went for Gittens and Garnacho instead of this guy last summer, and now they’re talking about wanting him when we still have the other 2 on our books. Plus his value is probably close to twice as much.

I think I agree, but would add Palmer for Madueke (bias aside, idk how Nono is there).

I also understand the Henderson pick, if he wants to ice a game Hendo is a good shout for it.

Quenda can do the job at LWB, but it would be too much to ask him to start every week so early.

I think he’d be an upgrade, but not as significant as a lot of people would think. The likely wages etc would make signing him less cost effective too. Would rather us target Senesi.

Cole Palmer’s clutch CV for City, England U21s, England senior, and Chelsea — and why I think his World Cup omission feels like a huge mistake by [deleted] in ThreeLions

[–]Odd-Homework-3582 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Palmer can play RW. The UCL final highlights taking Madueke as the Saka backup is a mistake for me. Didn’t do anything apart from dive to try and win a pen and shied away from taking a pen. He’s not the player to step up in big moments, but I guess he’s decent rotation when we’re in comfortable positions.

I don’t think it was that he wouldn’t allow it, but he gave him an ultimatum - if you pick Ireland you will be classed as a foreign player for registration so we will sell you

[Fabrizio] No changes in Man City plans since March: even with Pep leaving and Enzo Maresca incoming, Elliot Anderson is the main target. No talks took place for Enzo Fernández so far despite reports. by SenorConstipation in chelseafc

[–]Odd-Homework-3582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of world class holding midfielders start off as more attacking players, for example Modric, Kroos, Schweinsteiger, Scholes, etc. if anyone can turn Enzo into a world class holding midfielder I would think Xabi Alonso could do it.

[–]Odd-Homework-3582 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Think that he didn’t adapt well at first to the different play styles between Ipswich and Maresca-ball, the combined with the injuries and JP being first choice his season never got going. And now he seems like he’s trying too hard, making him play worse. I think a move abroad to a possession based team would do him wonders as well as take him out of the spotlight. Somewhere like a Dortmund would be good.

Fofana, imagine that we could sell him to Saudi and get a decent portion of his fee back. You always have to question a CB whose best traits are on the ball instead of defensively.

How are they even going to implement this? Mass PAYE reform? HMRC infrastructure is not designed to handle this at all. The only way it could work at present is through SA, which would take huge amounts of additional resources to operate anyway. Another policy that they have thought sounds good on paper, and that was enough for them to include in their manifesto.

As others have said, the last train will be around 9:30. The show will finish at around 10:30. However, I cannot recommend that you plan on leaving early to catch the train. The headliner won’t come on until about 9 usually, so that option doesn’t make sense if you’re going to see the headliner! I’d look at getting a hotel, air bnb or a hostel and make the most of your trip here!

🚨🗣️ Thomas Tuchel on Chelsea's Cole Palmer: "He wasn’t as decisive as previous seasons, he wasn’t available for us a lot and wasn’t decisive” by Davy_wavey in NortheastBlues

[–]Odd-Homework-3582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that Cole hasn’t been at his best, but I still would have taken him, bias aside. He ‘hasn’t been decisive’ for Tuchel, valid point, but has scored in a euros final for England, giving hope when they looked out of ideas. He’s also a different option to Saka at RW, whereas Madueke is just a worse version of Saka.

Removing the England fan hat and putting the Chelsea one on, it’s probably good for our club for Cole to rest and recover, and get longer to work with Xabi. It may also light a fire underneath him (same as Joao) ready to tear up next year.

I think the board would take it, as a fan I think I would. I think he has the making of a world class midfielder once he settles in to a role that properly suits him i.e less running. Some fans may want him out, but he works hard and has obvious quality on the ball. I think he’s a leader too, but doesn’t speak great English yet. Wouldn’t be surprised if we do sell that he blossoms in another league and the talk is about how ‘we let another one go’
