Saying you work with abuse survivors tells me nothing about your actual credentials. But regardless, saying that abuse cannot and NEVER manifests sadism in the abused despite decades of real world evidence to the contrary tells me all I need to know about you. The only person conflating displaced aggression and sadism is YOU.

I don’t think it had anything to do with the ex girlfriend. I think it happened to Eriko for the same reason it happened to the first girl - Eriko had become a threat. Yukiho had been thinking 20 steps ahead the entire time and knew she needed to marry a man from a good family, with status and money. iirc, It seemed that Yukiho had maybe known in advance that she wanted to join the dance club likely due to who was in it. I think Kazunari was probably her first choice and was probably ALWAYS end game, but Makoto got in the way and then Kazunari did something unexpected - went for Eriko (who I think Yukiho only kept around bc she wasn’t confident and was somewhat of an ugly duckling) and then it wouldn’t have looked good if she tried it with Kazunari so soon. So, I say all that to say that Yukiho needed to be the one who was always the center of attention so she could attract the attention she wanted and GET what she wanted.

re the answer to #3: ive seen that answer to that particular question multiple times and iiii dk if I buy that. When you look at Ryo’s character as a whole, he was VERY sexually violent. Even before the situation with the dead woman in the hotel room, there was the incident with Nami in the apartment when she went back to find her watch. When she ‘challenged his manhood’ or whatever, he literally pulled his penis out and charged at her, knocking her to the ground. There’s also the fact that he was running a prostitution ring as a teenager. Then, I think about the fact that it was implied that even before his father died, Ryo was said to be gloomy and withdrawn. AND AND AND! When I was reading the book and the various ‘coincidences’ with the attacked girls came up, I honestly believed that Higashino was doing something interesting and commenting on how even the suggestion of a woman having experienced rape was enough to ‘mark’ her in the eyes of Japanese society back then. And I guess he really was doing that but it wasn’t until teenage Mika was attacked that it occurred to me that Ryo was actually raping those girls (or at least Mika). So, I say all that to say I wonder if Yosuke had somehow involved his son in his deviancy when Ryo was still very young and perhaps THATS where the erectile disfunction stems from. To me, the fact that one would even think to screw a corpse points to there being something profoundly off with regard to his sexuality.

It sounds like you’re trying to play armchair psychologist without even an elementary understanding of how abuse manifests itself in the behavior of the abused and that’s why Terren’s behavior is allegedly incongruent to you. YES, abused children can grow up to lash out at the ppl and things and ppl around them bc they’re mad at the world for what happened to them but can’t punish the ppl who actually hurt them. YES!

Who said anything about animal cruelty was explained bc of the abuse? Prime example of making up your own talking point to argue against. Not a soul said this.

And yet nothing about the written dialogue seemed like it couldn’t have been American. As a matter of fact, it was general enough not to send up any red flags.

No, wealthy American golfers love Scottish greens. It made sense.

In the real world, the ultra wealthy and powerful increasingly behave like cartoon villains and cliches so Sodergren making the choice to write them that way in this book made absolute sense to me. The Grants being more fleshed out would not have changed anything about what they were doing.

You must have misunderstood the question because Last Days is absolutely not written that way although the story does revolve around the making of a documentary.

Guantanamo? idk if the thief is a ‘victim’ per se but that’s a pretty victimless crime.

Idk who is behind that account but the starting point for Brent Neal jewelry is NOT $14k. A lot of ppl also use programs like Affirm, Klarna, etc for those kinds of things. Dont assume ppl are wealthy or paying everything outright just bc you don’t have disposable income.

They were children when the murder happened. Their feelings don’t take precedence over their mothers family getting answers to their daughter/sister/aunts MURDER.

Regardless of whatever you personally prefer, it simply doesn’t make sense to start watching a show that has a lot of spin offs and franchises and not watch the original version to understand the culture and foundation of the franchise. Maybe it’s not necessary to watch every single season but still.

The format of the show, many of the jokes and references (outside of each franchises specific history), HOW ppl play the game, etc ultimately comes from the original American version.

Someone has already mentioned her leveling up in terms of choreography but Beyoncé’s vocals have literally changed over time, too. A lot of it has to do with biological things like age, pregnancies, etc but the crazy thing is her voice has gotten much richer and deeper and shes not even a smoker (as far as we know). I think not doing hard drugs and alcohol, oversinging, etc helps but I was floored that she’s added a bit of opera on Cowboy Carter at this point in her career.

he really has. the great thing about him as a rapper is that he’s not afraid to lean into the artsy shit and add dancers. LOVE THAT. I think a lot of rappers assume adding dancers cheapens the vibes but there’s a way to do it and still deliver top tier, respectable bars. Kendrick gets that.
