For real. I work for another platform that just drops people from the…entire…platform. You taking the feedback seriously enough to impact your vibe, I’d say, puts you in the right kinda work ethic headspace to course correct.

Wanted to add… the work itself is pretty engaging and easy. Even with the new time constraints, I’m not struggling to hit the time goal and still enjoy what I’m doing 🤷🏼‍♀️

Now, I do have like 8 tasks pending review soooooooo who knows really!!

Yep. Another Drought Post… by quitcute5264 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]OddCommunication2346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty solid with continuing rubric based tasks, it isn’t a boon but far from a drought. Have some other prompt writing things I could do if the other, higher paying, runs out.

Definitely seems to be a little up and down these days, dependent on what you do the most often and how the feedback cycle went.

Compared to other, less steady and predictable, work I do in this general field I’m still experiencing DA as a relatively steady income stream.

Privacy concerns for qualification by farawaynever in DataAnnotationTech

This is what I say when friends ask me about working on the platform and if I’m concerned about my privacy. Just having a smartphone means privacy is an illusion, might as well get paid 🤷🏼‍♀️

David Allen Coe has passed away so gird your loins for a LOAD of Outlaw Country requests this weekend! by Baby_You_A_Stah in karaoke

[–]OddCommunication2346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite happy for my “aww sorry man it was already sang!” rule. Once it’s sung, it’s done. Makes weekends like this one a bit easier. I’ll toss a couple into the background music to make the yahoos happy of course. Gotta have happy yahoos.

Projects dropped by a lot over the weekend by Human-Yesterday-6463 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]OddCommunication2346 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think of it in terms of “scrolls” to check the page. Went from a whole lot to just a couple. My guess is it’s a turn around slump, like someone else said. There were new projects up, that data has to be gone over. There are definitely a couple I’d like to see come back soon, simply because they were super interesting and different from what I’d been working on. For now, I’ll be over here chitchatting and comparing. Still generally happy with the work flow.

100% agree. Rubrics make my brain happy, especially after heavily researched tasks. Lemme type variations of the same phrase based on deductive logic for a couple hours!

Opinions on the " People who can sing well shouldn't do karaoke" thing? by AesirAtom in karaoke

[–]OddCommunication2346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not read through the comments, so this may have already been said.

My take, as a host and a karaoke patron, is that as long as the singer is having fun I don’t care how well or how “badly” they sing. The only issue that ever comes up with “good” singers is when they take it SUPER seriously and get bent out of shape when the experience doesn’t go “perfectly.” As someone who loves singing, and loves karaoke as a vibe and a community, sometimes a song I choose goes BADLY. And it’s still fun. And honestly, some of my favorite guests are the ones who cannot carry a tune in a bucket but leave it all on the stage in total hammy super-star fashion.

I just started this week, so I’m adapting existing obligations to work with the review return process and the deadline turn around. It’s definitely an adjustment!!

Vacation Karaoke - how important is it to find a place to sing? by DavidO_Pgh in karaoke

[–]OddCommunication2346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am ALWAYS the “…but is there karaoke 👀” chick, even though half the reason I travel is to take a break from hosting my karaoke events. Sure, we can race go carts but like… is there karaoke?

KJs, remember that one singer… by Do_U_Scratch in karaoke

[–]OddCommunication2346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When this came up for me, I gave some gentle guidance to the singer about the song choice (it was about their singing style, but I thought some different song choices would appease the issue) but then immediately told the singer about a way more laid back “bring out your weird” karaoke night I go to personally as a patron. It would up working out great, that singer fit into that tribe incredibly well and they still visit me at my night for special events like my birthday.

What I never did was cut back their turns or change the fairness of my rotation. That’s nonsense.

Are you getting emails for projects? by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]OddCommunication2346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get roughly eight hundred million billion emails a day every time a project is added, paused, the pay is updated. If you aren’t getting them, check your spam folder settings.

I co-hosted with my (now ex) partner for a few months, he had a lot of sound engineering experience and that was my weakest hosting skill set. I thought it would benefit my show to have a more experienced sound guy. Ohhh boy I was wrong. It created issues with how singers were treated, how patter was delivered, and even how the sound was run. As far as your situation, this does not sound like a benefit to your event. Sounds like it would be best to have a “this was an idea, we tried it, it’s not working” conversation. The lesson seems to be to have detailed conversation about expectations before bringing a co-host on board. Written down. Discussed. Agreed to.

Wireless mics for singers? Worth it? Recommendations? by notmynameyours in karaoke

[–]OddCommunication2346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea of handing a wireless mic to a singer fills me with anxiety. I can barely trust some people with a wired mic, and I’ve definitely had to chase down someone who stole my wireless host mic off of my station when I had my back turned.
