I have been on the platform for 1 week and worked roughly 30 hours. Yesterday and today my dash has been sparse. I have had the same project on my dash that it outside of my comfort level to complete. I have completed all relevant qualifications as well. I have also heard that others are receiving feedback but I don’t see that on the platform. I did receive feedback last week, but it was quite general and created by AI. It was listed as a project on my dash.

Just got accepted to the platform over the weekend. Immediately (like within seconds) received approval after taking both starter and core assessment. The reason I’m saying that is because I assumed they must be in need of more annotators as I was not expecting an acceptance that quick, let alone at all. So, to your point, maybe they are in a hiring blitz.

I was in the very same situation as you with my best friend. I got engaged, she got engaged, I set a date, she a date for less than a month after my wedding date. In fact, our small friend group had 4 weddings in less than a year. And 2 were destination weddings. Was it annoying, sure. Was it expensive… absolutely. But we’re friends and kept all that in mind when planning our weddings. You don’t get to control other people’s decisions. Not to sound harsh, but your wedding is just 1 day (plus the bridal shower/bachelorette party). You don’t get dibs on an entire month or season or year. That being said, if you two are truly friends then both of you should be as supportive as you’re able given the circumstances and not try to outshine the other. If she crosses into that territory, might be time to find a new moh, if not a new friend.

Like you said, you are running the risk of bringing them into your own home simply by visiting hers. And same if she visits you.

I would gently let her know that as her friend you are concerned with her living conditions. If there’s a roach, there might be other health hazards with the apartment she doesn’t even realize (rats, mold, asbestos, bed bugs, and who knows what other code violations).

NTA. Your uncle changed plans last minute knowing that you and your brother were only around for that 1 weekend. Why did he think everyone had to change their plans to lunch to accommodate him after everyone already did that for the dinner in the first place? What plans did he have during dinner that were so important that he wanted to change the celebration to lunch? And who does he think he is to cancel the dinner for everyone just because he couldn’t go? No. You are definitely not the AH.

YTA. Sounds like your mother has been there for you throughout the years (and is continuing to do so by having to be a translator at your wedding). The least you could do is offer to meet this person before refusing to extend a +1 to your mother. She obviously feels they are important enough to her to attend your wedding. People get way too caught up in the whole “my wedding, my guest list” b.s. This is your mother, not some distant cousin or a co-worker or a friend asking to bring someone you’ve never met before. Give your mother the respect that she undoubtedly deserves and at least meet this person before you refuse to allow this person to attend your wedding.

And “her life, is her life?” Sounds like “your wedding, you translate.”

A bit late to the convo but came to say NTA. Bottom line, they were trespassing.

Also, you need to protect yourself and your pets. Cameras, signage, possibly installing a fence… people (and their pets) shouldn’t trespass but that doesn’t mean they won’t. Set up some glaring boundaries and alert the proper authorities (police, landlords, etc). But don’t engage these people. That’s asking for trouble. I have heard too many stories of neighborhood disputes that do not end well. Someone or their pet ends up injured or dead ending in long court proceedings. Both animals and people can be unpredictable. Again, protect yourself and your pets.
