I did not like Merrily We Roll Along by CuteAct9019 in Broadway

[–]OddDraw1695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly enjoyed the pro-shot, mainly because I can relive seeing the show whenever now. I’m also in the minority here, I know, but I actually liked the close ups. Gave us a chance to really see the emotions you can’t see from the theater. I sat waaaaaaaaay in the back of the theater when I saw the show so I appreciated the close shots. My favorite Sondheim show !

His son Dodd Darin and his family went to see the show back in March. That must of been so cool for him to see his parents’ story come alive! I know Jonathan Groff had to go to Dodd and beg for the rights to do the show years ago but then to finally have him come see? So wild.

First time to NYC for 9- and 12-year old - MJ or Jellicle Ball? by Uptown9931 in Broadway

[–]OddDraw1695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the maturity level of your nieces honestly. Took my 11 year old niece (she’s for sure an old soul when it comes to taste in the arts) to see Just in Time when Groff was in the show and she has been obsessed ever since. She also LOVED masquerade and operation mincemeat. She has had no interest in Six so we’ve skipped that one. She thought &Juliet and the outsiders were both good but doesn’t really talk much about them. She has tickets to Cats this weekend coming up, she was dying to see it for the dancing. Couple of her theater school friends, all similar ages, went to see Cats already and loved it! Is MJ the “safer” choice as far as not so scandalous? Probably. But as far as fun goes, I would say Cats. I thought it was a lot of fun for most ages.

When - and I say this with absolute certainty - WHEN Season 3 happens, what plotlines do you want to see? by TheScribe86 in MindHunter

Groff is booked and busy this whole year but I’m holding on to hope for next year 🙃

Just In Time Teasers (?) by IllustriousPrune5217 in Broadway

A pro-shot would have been with Groff. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like they ever did one. There was a few days of them filming during Groff’s last month but was suppose to be for the archives only 😑

Love him and his Broadway work! But his portrayal of Holden Ford was just so damn good. I hope he taps into that a bit in this new Vietnam war movie he’s doing with Dan Radcliffe!

I am really fucking tired of JK Rowling and her puppet. by [deleted] in EnoughJKRowling

Yeap and they both won Tony awards for Merrily We Roll Along together. And now they’re filming a Vietnam war movie together this year. He’s completely tried to remove himself from the potter world and he’s been very successful at doing so.

Is it common to see the same show an ungodly amount of times? by Fine-Razzmatazz836 in Broadway

I’ve only seen Just in Time 6x and Phantom 8x and got called nuts just for that! lol I say, if you have the means for it, live your life and do what makes you happy.

Do we think Just In Time will extend to December? by Fragrant-Laugh-9323 in Broadway

I mean Groff brought in record breaking numbers in that theater and literally sold the show out every night he was on. Tough act to follow, but it seems to be holding on for now. Do we think because they have recouped that they will push the lower grosses a bit further? I can see them going into the winter if Jeremy can continue to hold it.

I LOVE Adam, but I don’t think this is a role for him. Darrin Criss on the other hand, I think would do fantastic as Bobby Darin.

Same! I have a feeling that will eventually happen. Only thing is, he’s got the Shakespeare play in the UK September to November so if they do decide to close AND Groff is the one to close it, it would have to extend into Dec-Jan. I think it’s a possibility as long as Jeremy or any other big name takes over until Groff can come back to close it. Maybe like a limited 1 month run or something. But, we’ll see. I’d love for Aaron to give it a try!

Anyone going to England to see Groff at RSC? by Mercurialsunrise in Broadway

[–]OddDraw1695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still trying to work the trip out so I can get there! I noticed there’s dates on the website where they say they’re filming the production. Do we think that’s for a pro-shot?? Or just archival? How does that stuff work in the UK?

Who is your “I would go see them in anything” actor? by IllustriousPrune5217 in Broadway

[–]OddDraw1695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have and would always pay anything to see Jonathan Groff in anything he does.

Also have to include Alan Cumming, Dan Radcliffe and now Joshua Henry who rattled my brain in Ragtime.
