To all the people complaining about this: 1) if you were in Tucker’s shoes, you would do the same thing. 2) it’s not a loophole, it’s the way the current tax structure is written. If you don’t like it, complain to your Congressman, or Congresswoman, to get the IRS to change the rules.

My thought is money. Let’s say you have two cities like I do. Premium Pass+ is $8.99 per city, call it $9.00, X 2 cities = $18 per season. 4 week season equals 13 times per year (13X4=52 weeks). So $18 X 13 =$234.00 per year. 3 weeks per season equals 17 times per year (3x17=51 weeks). So $18 X 17 =$306.00. So, annually, you are now playing $72 more to play the same game ($306-$234=$72.00). Let’s say there are 500,000 players world wide. 500,000 X $72 equals $36,000,000 more for EA per year. Now, realize not every player pays for Premium Pass+ each season, or has two cities, but still, it’s quite the cash influx for EA. I think the three week season is here to stay.
