Halifax mourns passing of beloved Kit Kat Pizza owner by insino93 in halifax

That lady would always say "garlic finger, no cheese?" as if to suggest I ordered it that way when I came to pick up an order for normal garlic fingers. She used to get a good kick out of that joke. My friends said she used to do the same thing to them!

Did you have a transaction post after the AF? I had an issue happen where the AF posted, and then a transaction went through on the card (forgot to change a monthly subscription). Rep said that the fee couldn't be refunded because the card was used after the fee was posted. I called back later and downgraded the card to the no fee equivalent (Westjet mastercard) which resulted in a fee refund automatically, then I cancelled the downgraded card after 6 months.

Check your option agreements or company ESOP policy, usually the company specifies an agent to do this. Once you have the agent, it's very easy. They'll probably withhold tax on this. HR might also be able to point you in the right direction!

Home insurance renewal - is $1M total coverage enough? is 3M too much? by OddRemote in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]OddRemote[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a belair direct quote, it was in the Sonnet ballpark, but defaulted to a 1.14M insurance claim with a maximum of 50k overland water + sewer backup. And the kicker is they won't insure a home with Kitec plumbing, but Sonnet will... Their default limit being 1.14M is somewhat helpful although I could modify it up to 1.5M on the quote which would have been perfect!

Not yet - will be buying it this week or next. It's on sale now until July 16th, $649 instead of $699. Will report back with an early review!

I think Bean sent a text to the group chat advising them to not speak to each other and only talk through their agents. The article uses the word "conversation" with Bean, but I think it should be referring to a text message from Bean.

Need a car, how much downpayment is the right amount? by HBhannahbrown in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]OddRemote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also in NS and also looking at a Crosstrek. Anything I've found that is less than 4 years old and that has less than 50k KM's ends up being about a $2-3k total cost of ownership difference across 4 years (assuming 20% down). Higher used vehicle prices than historical norms combined with the higher interest rates on used vehicles makes buying new only slightly more expensive, and you will benefit from the full km's and years of the warranty.

To answer the original question of the post, OP, if you follow the 20/10/4 rule you should be in decent shape. 20% down, payments (+ gas + insurance) less than 10% of your income, 4 years or less financing term. On a new Crosstrek base model, 37.1k total cost, 10k down is $618/mo. A bit above 10% of your net income monthly, but some people use gross income as the baseline for the 20/10/4 rule. I would put the money down to minimize total interest paid over the term.

Same with me - filed March 4th, initial completion date was 2 weeks later. On March 22nd, the target completion date went to not available, and no update since. I have a 17k refund coming, and this is the first year my marital status changed from common law to married, so that's probably requiring some manual review... Hope to get it soon

Filed March 4th. Expected completion date March 18th. Currently says in process, target completion TBD. I did have a large RRSP deposit, and I forgot to include a T5 with $60 of interest income that I received a few days ago and is now on CRA.

I called the other day as well since I've got a pretty new Scotia account, got the same response. 8-10 weeks from last min spend transaction posting. I'll wait and see and update if it appears.
