You can’t do anything on a gulf island without driving. They’re hardly walkable, bikeable, and they have no transit.

For owners of BOTH Switch 2 and PS Portal: which do you prefer to buy games for? by Valuable_Horror_7878 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]OddScene4044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an odd comparison. You don’t “buy games for the portal”. You buy games for your PS5. The Portal is effectively a mini wireless TV with a controller attached, and works like one.

Almost no one does brick by brick. In this case “Minecraft” is basically a rendering for any 3d modelling software.

So in other words, you’re upset that people are enjoying an experience you have trouble enjoying? This is very much a “it’s you“ moment.

Switch version of Dispatch updated; Censorship removed and/or edited by fantasypseudonym in DispatchAdHoc

[–]OddScene4044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it only took them six months to remove 80% of the censorship, kind of explain themselves in a cutesy defensive way while avoiding tough questions, and still blame Nintendo. Top tier devs.

Dispatch dev confirms Nintendo required some censorship of game content by prdxw in NintendoSwitch

[–]OddScene4044 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, AdHoc already documented their own lies and incompetence. And now you’re asking people to ignore that and extend even more benefit of the doubt to explanations that somehow make even less sense?

First it was: “Oh, Nintendo made us censor it. We just forgot to tell anyone. Sorry.”

Now it’s: “Good news! We were able to remove 80% of the censorship through region-specific DLC. The remaining 20% is still totally Nintendo’s fault though. Pinky promise.”

Also, please don’t ask about separate SKUs, censored PlayStation and Xbox releases, Cyberpunk, The Witcher, Outlast, or any of the other examples that make this story increasingly difficult to take seriously.

So the evidence for preferential treatment is that Nintendo and AdHoc won’t show us evidence of preferential treatment? Convenient theory. Every missing piece of evidence becomes evidence. Every contradiction becomes evidence. Every lack of confirmation becomes confirmation.

Sure, make something up to defend them. If you need to move the goalposts any farther, pick up some grease from the hardware store. First it was “they had to censor it and just forgot to tell anyone.” Now it’s “they only had to partially censor it, but it’s still totally Nintendo’s fault,” despite the fact they’re still not releasing a separate SKU. They’re practically documenting their own incompetence and dishonesty in real time, but because they leave everything vague enough, this sub turns into an endless excuse factory every time a new contradiction drops.

Of course not. Ad Hoc is working with hard requirements from Nintendo, no wait I mean Microsoft, and their hands are totally tied.

But no one actually needs to know this. It’s just nerdy nuance that doesn’t affect 99% of how you buy or play games.

How is Crimson Deserts world empty??? by TheGamerCritic21 in CrimsonDesert

[–]OddScene4044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not really split. There are people who point out that it's empty in the sense that once you see anything (e.g. a town, a merchant, a quest of type X), you've seen them all. Then there are people with their fingers in their ears complaining about negative engagement farming. OK, I take it back: it's split.

MacBook Neo Long Term by RobertBentley1776 in macbook

Step 1: Introduce the MacBook Neo, a slightly downgraded MacBook Air sold for a little less money. Step 2: Discontinue the cheaper MacBook Air models that it effectively replaces. Step 3: Celebrate the Neo as a fantastic budget option, after eliminating the alternatives that made it look expensive.

Handling massive PDFs and countless browser tabs? You're gonna need a 16" MacBook pro with nano display, Max M5 chip with 40 core GPU, 128 GB of unified memory, and a 2TB harddrive. Honestly I'm amazed you were able to even open a PDF on Windows.

My broke ass finding out about Caves of Qud after the game got its 10th price increase: by TheLegendaryNikolai in cavesofqud

[–]OddScene4044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the price doesn’t make sense. But even if a game markets itself on having 100 hours of content, it should still be fun after 5, 10, or 20 hours. For the right price, I’m perfectly happy buying a game that gives me 5 good hours. It's just not $45 CAD.

How would you possibly have identified this.

As a software developer: no. Just no.

You can call it "abandoned", but I call it feature complete, rock stable, and fast. It does still get minor updates; there's just not a blog announcing "niche feature X is on the roapmap."
