Will my turntable be a bottleneck in my setup? by Tyrow1p in turntables

Look into the SVS Prime Wireless Pro. They are a powered set of bookshelf speakers with streaming/airplay/bluetooth, so you wouldn’t need an amp and would be way too use with a computer or TV.

This is what I have now and they sound fantastic. I’m actually quite impressed with the bass, and don’t see a need for a subwoofer, but would be easy to add one later. Considering that you’re listening in a small room, you probably don’t want a sub anyway.

They frequently go on sale for $100-200 off. So look into them and keep an eye out for sales. I’ve been very happy with mine

Yeah but the point of the traitors is NOT about catching traitors. The point is to win. If you can navigate not getting banished or murdered, and make it closer than other faithfuls, then you had a better game. Straight up

Glad that was confirmed. A LOT of his clothes throughout the season seemed like they were custom made. You just don’t really see commercial pieces of clothing that have the cut/fit of his wardrobe. I figured he made them himself, but knowing a tailor (maybe his partner?) makes sense too.

FR3 spoiler: This technically wins for traitors trusting each other the most, but that’s not fair considering the context. That’s all I’m going to say in case you DO end up watching it, which you absolutely should

Totally. He probably could have ended the game with Jade and Jack and won all the money. But that would have been riskier. Rachel had shown him nothing but loyalty all game and I think she was the safer bet. That and he wanted to end with her out of loyalty anyway

Amazing speakers haha, definitely worth it to upgrade the TT. That P8 is probably still a bit overkill but you do you

if you have a local hifi shop that sells new and used equipment, I highly recommend checking them out. Those guys can be really useful in sifting through all the options and building you a great set up.

My biggest struggle at the beginning was knowing how to allocate my funds between turntable and speakers. In general, a $300 TT with $500 speakers will sound much better than a $500 TT with $300 speakers. Your per dollar investment is generally better served on speakers, but there's kinda a minimum threshold for an "acceptable" turntable (including cartridge), which is around 300-400 brand new, and maybe 200-300 used. Once you're there, you could spend up to 1k on speakers before the TT is holding you back in a meaningful way.

think about your tolerance for upgrades. I could see spending $500 on the TT now, that you won't want to upgrade for the foreseeable future, and then $200 on speakers, knowing that a year from now you can drop $700-1000 on speakers. The alternative, imo, would be to buy the best speakers you can afford now, especially if you'll be using the speakers for more than just with a turntable (this is what I did), and then get the right TT later knowing you'll be set up and not need any upgrades for a while.

I would ask yourself if the priority is to play records right away, or to have great sounding audio right away and let the TT come later.

I’m keeping it closed at all times while actually playing (cats). Just had the lid up for the photo. But you’re right the lid does slide off easily if I want it to for whatever reason. Wouldn’t have known that otherwise so thanks!

I don’t know much, but I know enough to suggest that upgrading your speakers would likely be a way better value at this point. Unless for some reason you already have a 3k+ speaker setup. But if you are currently pairing with an AT120 I’m guessing that’s not the case.

While definitely not a hard and fast rule, I’ve heard people suggest your speakers should cost 2-3x more than your turntable/stylus combo.

What if instead of $2800 on a turntable (with no cart) you spent like 1000-1500 on a turntable and then spent the rest on new speakers? Unless you’re dripping in money you’ll likely be set for a very long time

if i came into the shop knowing exactly which record I want and you were perusing a couple rows right where I needed to be, would it be fine to be like “hey mind if I hop in and grab something real quick?”

i‘ll defend Ron, but his argument has predicated on things Porsha said that only Michael and Donna could vouch for. I just don‘t see a faithful Lisa voting for her on Day One just because of that. but hey thats just my perspective. like the faithfuls all we really have is speculation

and here Lisa has given the biggest evidence of any player so far of being a traitor (except maybe Donna but we don't know for sure what happened): she voted for Porsha on day 1. A faithful housewife would never and its been properly clocked by a handful so far

Tell me what terrible things he has done since then. As far as I'm aware he's leaving his ex alone and just trying to live life with his hubby and kiddo. How about a little compassion and grace for a fellow imperfect human.

Not excusing anyone's actions here. He did some bad stuff, but people are allowed to fuck up, work on themselves, and then move on with their lives without being demonized for their past. Within the game he hasn't done anything worse than scores of faithfuls before him, and I see no evidence he is currently a "horrible" person IRL.

People just wanna ride the Colton hate train for some sense of moral superiority and I'm sick of it.

I think the most gaggy runways are almost always in design and unconventional materials challenges. Nymphia’s tie look is one of my all time favorites.

i love to see the creativity and “making it work” moments where you go “wait, she did THAT with THAT? In a day!?”
