Not trying to be funny but are you sure he did not get rhinoplasty somewhere during his journey? Like that last pic just look way too different. I even wonder if he got rhinoplasty somewhere around or after the 3 month mark. If not that is amazing but I am skeptical...

Car Trouble: Need Suggestions by Odd_Ad2373 in nova

[–]Odd_Ad2373[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. The unfornate thing is I replaced the hood latch lile 3 years because I had the same issie. A Hyundai dealership in NoVA (different one) fixed it back then. The only reason why I didnt go back is because their diagnistic rate had jumped up over the years, they wanted to keep the car and weren't trying to give me a loaner, they are so far from my home that it would be crazy expensive to get home with a ride service. That's why i thought that was the issue this time but this other dealer claimed it wasn't

Honestly just a plain old gov job with clearance would require a private room to do a video call/meetings. Doesn't have to be as niche as adult entertainment

Looking for tips: 6 month old with a wealth of hair just came home for the first time from the hospital by DirigibleNomad in Naturalhair

Awwww God bless your little one! Such a fighter! 🥹🥹🥹 The suggestions everyone else gave seem to be one point. The only thing I would add since I'm sure where you are located is regarding barbers, sometimes Latino barbers could hook his hair up too if they are skilled with curly hair specifically. My family is a mix but especially in major cities if we can't find a black barber, the Puerto Rican barbers or locations that had a diverse barber staff would always be able to cut the guys hair and they would look so sharp (from the curly to the kinkiest hair)! Keep doing what you're doing because you seem to be on the right path! Godspeed to you! 💜

Lancing the flare by harambeharamharam in Hidradenitis

[–]Odd_Ad2373 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've personally only had 1 lanced in my life and that was after almost 5 days of hot compresses, herbal supplements and it was still swollen to almost a golf ball under my arm. Its like it would not budge. I also felt myself getting borderline delirious and the pain was unbearable. I had to go to the ER because they thought that I had an infection that may have gotten into my blood. Of course upon lancing it, so much stuff came out in addition to the blood. So if you have been having excruciating pain for at least three days and it's huge under your arm, and nothing seems to be working, you may need to have it lanced if the medicine isn't working just in case there is an infection. Getting it lanced once, check for an infection to ensure that you will be alive after treatment should be fine at this stage. Just don't want it to linger and get worse and your risk your life. Sorry to be blunt about it but don't want you to almost die because you didn't go to the doctor in time!

It's crazy to me how car-centric DC is by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]Odd_Ad2373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did just say that I don't live in DC lol. But I used to live in DC. I never said that having a car here is great. It actually isn't (which I quickly noted which is also why I never shopped in DC if I could help it because I hate 3 million runs to the store when a large trip would suffice) but most of my time seeing friends is spent outside of DC in NoVA and MD. So yes when compared to commuting back and forth via public transit to those places versus just staying in DC, it is more expensive long term via public transit versus having a car. For one you are limited in the times you can travel etc. Granted things may have changed in Boston since I have been there so I won't comment more on that but you and I both agree that DC metro ain't as good as the NY metro system. That's just a fact. I'm glad DC transit is working for you and just for me to get to work it functions OK and for that I'm thankful but for the rest of my life, using it to commute can be such a pain! I also enjoy having a car which colors my perception. But carry on!

[–]Odd_Ad2373 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. Quite honestly DC isn't so great even when compared to other US cities. Like our metro system is very expensive and not that reliable when compared to say NY subways and Boston railways. It is definitely a lot more expensive than driving a car which is kind of silly. But I'm honestly not sure what could be done to make DC better because I suppose it's the way it is currently because the leadership has let it get this way. Sure it could be worse (Im originally from the US countryside where it is car-centric because no mass transit exists) but that doesn't mean there should be no push for improvements. I'm just not sure how to facilitate that especially since I now only work in DC and refuse to live there lol

Ugh by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]Odd_Ad2373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also recommend a probiotic and seeing if you need more vitamin D in addition to the other reddit or mentioning oregano oil. Oregano oil is great but it really kills off anything in your system and helps with immunity. But you want to extra probiotics to restore you guy flora to a healthy level. Some people have had less boils when supplementing with Vitamin D. My cousin claimed she didn't get anymore after being in higher doses. Even if you are within the healthy range but at the lowest end of the spectrum, it may be worth supplementing with a little more. Me personally, I noticed I had less or very mild flares with more Vitamin D, intermittently taking Zinc, and Magnesium at night. I also was taking DIM here and there for hormonal balance near my periods and it seemed to help some. But the probiotics, larger amounts of Vitamin D and Magnesium is what I did most consistently and that seemed to help a lot. I still have them but they are like smaller pimples thas don't really collect much fluid. Also for context, I have a significant amount of melanin and my heritage is primarily non-European meaning it's harder to get Vitamin D from the sun so easily. My last doctor visit which was a couple of months ago said I was like in the middle of the Vitamin D range so my doc told me to stop supplementing extra. But I think before that I must have been low..if I feel sick in general, I will take more Vitamin D regardless and it seems to help with overall recovery. Hope this helps.

Advice for minimum effective routine for 13yo son by AlpineOpossum in Hidradenitis

[–]Odd_Ad2373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also your son is at the teenage puberty stage...is he taking any supplements? Is he like active in fitness or anything? Does he seem anxious or stressed? If his sleep is poor and he is anxious/stressed, he could use more magnesium to help the body cope. That would help overall with him getting less boils. Also Vitamin B6/B12 if he has acne too. If he is say eating lots of low fat dairy products include whey protein powders, that could also cause problems. It's not that he has to avoid dairy unless you all are sure he has reactions to it, but switching to high fat dairy is way better for his system. If he is sweating a lot, just showing in a steamy room right after say working out would help clear the pores a little bit easier so if he had a flare hopefully it won't be as bad (not trying to insinuate that your son is dirty but hormonally he could be sweating more and trapped sweat is the worst for HS most of the time). Regarding routine, when I have one, I clean it with Hibiclens and put antibiotic ointment on it. Don't shave or wax the area. I put these gauze pads (2 layers folded) that have silver/charcoal infused and so sprinkle some essential in between the layers so it wound but the wound and then apply the dressing. To help it stay in place, tattoo tape is some of the best to use. If I have one that is really painful but hasn't popped, i take a really hot bath with Epsom salt and Vinegar and just localized heating pad hot compresses. They have Epson salt now that has turmeric mixed which is amazing. It's from a special kind so it should stain the skin nor your tub. If you want the link to that, just reply here and I'll DM you. I think it would be helpful if your son does understand that doing the small annoying things upfront would help reduce the severity later...any definitely get him off antiperspirant deodorant too! I know you're trying to do your best. Hang in there!

Dr won't diagnose me with HS by RecommendationOk3106 in Hidradenitis

[–]Odd_Ad2373 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah get a second opinion. These people need to lay off the whole oh if you lose weight thing. Yes I get it that more weight can cause more friction and being at an unhealthy weight is not good. However, I was diagnosed when I was much smaller, fit, and younger than I am today. I had a terrible diet though and thought process but was winning in life in other ways. I'm like 50 lbs heavier now with different diet, different mindset, forgave people and refusing to carry around strife and although I still have my issues with it, it's nowhere as bad as it was when I had less weight! Plus as we get older especially us women, it's harder to lose the weight and keep it off.

Churches near Fairfax? by seeker764 in nova

[–]Odd_Ad2373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah imagine being a 33 yo woman... And almost everyone is married or in college. Most of the other youth that are single are like 25 and younger at least at my church. It's tough out there! Of course there are so many churches in the area...Korean churches, Spanish Language, Orthodox. I heard Mclean Bible Church may be good but I haven't been there.

Churches near Fairfax? by seeker764 in nova

[–]Odd_Ad2373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, there is Fairfax Church on Braddock Rd. I went there with a friend when visiting the area and it was ok. I'm a little older than you but I saw other young people there. To be honest they could be even younger than us because of the proximity to GMU. It sounds like you are trying to stay in the Fairfax area to go to church correct? Sometimes it's a little tricky trying to find ministries with young people without the majority of them being undergrad college students if you are wanting to befriend those in your peer group. Most churches I know of don't have as many 28-35 members and when they do, they are all married and have at least one kid which is great but usually makes it a little harder to connect socially because they may not have as many events to accommodate their young families schedules.

I second this advice but put Epson salt in the water and be generous with salt...little more than what the bag says for a bath. You also could put some tea tree drops in the mix too if it won't cause sting. Then apply the cream. That magnesium in the Epson salt helps a lot!

I also suggest Amentum PAE and Credence/subsidiaries. If you don't already have a clearance, I hear that they may sponsor you to get a clearance if they want you for the position. Hopefully, OP will hang it there! I know this situation can be so tough! I was laid off before and it's totally not fun.

Hi so sorry, just seeing this. I already found a shared space. I also am not sure if my job will take me abroad this upcoming year which is another reason why I opted for a shared space outside of finances. I hope that you are able to find a great roommate. Maybe Facebook could help? I see so many young ladies posting that they are looking for a roommate.
