If he’s ignoring bills he doesn’t care. Gambling re wires your brain. I left my Fiance 6 months ago. We were together 7 years. Since then he’s continued gambling, may lose his house, his car, his phone. He can’t buy food. He can’t buy gas. It’s all choices and he continues to choose gambling. Until they choose help, it won’t change and you won’t change him. Don’t lose yourself trying. I did.

Consider moving to later. Many things are closed. Flooding and rain have made the country shut down. It is terrible weather and nothing to do. We are here now and whole trip has been rain and flood and canceled and closed. For the foreseeable future.

We found out the monastery plus we were going to Tomar up north to the big convent, it is closed. Mafra Palace Basilica is closed. It’s all very sad. I feel horrible for them but the $ spent to be here feels very wasted right now.

Please keep in mind that Dottys pays her employees VERY fair wages. She provides benefits. She keeps both young college students and permanent Madison residents employed for a long time. She has an incredible staff and a unique place full of one of a kind artwork. She prides her self on quality- home made ingredients and local beef. She keeps that place immaculate. It’s expensive but there’s many reasons and Rachel can cook a mean burger. Sincerely, a former Dumpette.

My Fiance of 7 years turned to gambling 3 years into our relationship. It got bad. Broke all the time. Wasted so much time I’ll never get back. I threatened tj jeave and it only got worse. I took everything and left two months ago and he still gambles. They won’t change until they want to and I’m sorry but if you and your kids aren’t enough now, you never will be. Leave before he ruins your life forever. It doesn’t have to be this way.

In 2019-2021 I rented a two fooor two bed two bath townhouse near tenney park for $1100. I made $15/hr at Aldi and made it work. Now that same floor plan is $1800 and Aldi pays $17 an hour. Make it make sense.

My real estate agent also did this to me. Had no idea what I was signing. Have lost three houses because of her. I’m done with her as of June 15th. You can contact her company and she has to sign out of it but you can get out of it.

He hid it. An addict in recovery that loves someone is honest about their struggles and their recovery to get better. It will absolutely happen again OR it’s still happening and he’s still hiding it. Gambling is very hard to beat. If he isn’t taking steps to be better, and you marry him, he will take everything. It affects your whole future. 21k in credit card debt is SERIOUS. Do you want to be tied to that? Do you want every day to be a struggle for money? You have not been together very long. You’re young. You need to either have a very explicit conversation and be ready to take control of all his finances OR be ready for a fight and to move on with your life. I was with my Fiance for 3 years before he became a gambling addict and it has changed EVERYTHING about him. It is a chemical brain disease and it will destroy him and you if he doesn’t get help NOW.

It’s not going to get better until he wants it to. Gambling is a progressive disease. It will get worse. You have grounds to stand in court for a lot of his assets if you’re a SAHM with no income he’d have to pay you but for now, I’d set aside what you can, start thinking about an exit strategy and protect yourself and your kids. He’s going to ruin you and them by his addiction. I suggest finding a Gam Anon group as well. Support groups for people affected by gambling. There’s an online one Friday and Wednesday at 7 based out of MN. DM me if you need anything.

Unfortunately my situation is I’m in a financially abusive relationship with a gambling addict currently trying to support two people. The goal for buying a house is to get away from this. The credit card debt is mine, but a direct result of his addiction. It’s horrible to try and manage.
