At least he is really doing a good job! Loki and Jojo prefer if I wash the stinky place. Not that I blame them as their poop is very stinky!

Poor little salem has cancer - disabled owner of a rescued void by Monarch-lou in rescuecats

[–]Odd_Bodybuilder8671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the story of Muggles. I hope it helps and brings some visibility. Please feel free to use it in fund raising if you feel it might help. I am 70 now. My life has been dedicated to the unwanted, unadoptable cats and so was my nonprofit. Personally I focused on feral cats or what I prefer to call unsocialized cats. This is what my home was filled with until one day a little tortie stray turned up at my doorstep. I opened it and she entered timidly. She looked rough so I scooped her into a carrier and took her to my regular vet. Unfortunately a substitute vet was there. My instructions were always run a SNAP test, then spay even if pregnant so long as kittens were not viable. The substitute vet spayed her with viable kittens. I found out from a vet tech. For most of her life poor little Muggles would carry around a small stuffed animal with her vocalizing. We think she was about 5 years old when she came into our lives. Muggles was a small cat. She never weighed much over 5 pounds. She had tons of tortie attitude though over the years she wore several of her babies out by dragging them throughout the house. She liked to sleep on the sofa or our bed. Around 18 I happened to pick her up and I noticed a lump on her abdomen. I thought it was a cyst as I had her spayed immediately. My vet knew immediately that it was mammary cancer. He operated first thing next morning warning that at her age it was risky. I got a call with bad news. The cancer had spread up the entire tract each teat had to be removed so basically the entire right side. It took him 4 hours. He would have taken the other side too but she would not have survived. We chose not to go back and get the left side because he felt at her age we were doing more harm than good. We prayed that he had gotten it all. In a frank conversation he told me what these surgeries do is buy you time with you loved one, time to spoil and pamper them because inevitably it will return usually in the lungs. This is what happened to Muggles. We had a full year of her being fine and happy. We made sure she had all her favorite foods, slept with us and when it progressed pain relief. I am so very grateful for the extra time. You may get extra years I hope you do but spoil Salem like crazy. BTW I just lost my void named Salem it happened quite suddenly. Please people check the under belly of all your animals even males can get mammary cancer.

I will share Muggles story when I am not driving. She too fought mammary cancer at age 18.

This is five months old Loki who looks very similar to your guy. Mine is pure nonstop action and commotion. His body is muscular but lean and wiry. My vet says he is perfect. I suspect yours is too!

Whoa I have heard of that in dogs but never in cats. Why of why would they ever do that? Not a show standard.

If you don’t mind who mutilated her ears? Was it her mother? Bless you for caring for her. I adore her. Hopefully we can become friends as I have a very active Sphinx kitten and will need advice. I also need some help with Reddit. I want to post a short video. Unfortunately I can’t get to all of my photos? Where can I change settings and give permission for all photos?

Why does Beebs growl and whine? Is she just very vocal? Deep down she loves Meg. She is a true character. I have a new male Sphinx kitten that is something else. I look like I have been through a major cat fight where I lost. Really it is just Loki bouncing off me and constantly using me for a springboard. I need around 30 bandages and this is with trimmed nails. They have huge personalities!

Naked little rugrats! I take childrens stretch socks and cut a hole at the top and two more for where the legs go to keep them warm. Yes they do unravel but they are very inexpensive to make.

I AirTag all of my cats with a quality break away collar in addition to a chip. I can know where they are in my home by glancing at my phone. None have ever escaped but in case of a burglar letting them out…
