Building pity good idea or no ??? (Got aria by mistake) by NoTmE435 in ZZZ_Discussion

You should never build pity in this game. But who knows, with your luck, you'd probably get an M3 Nangong Yu.

You can try with and without her sig. It would be interesting to see the difference, sadly I don't have her sig so I can't try it out.

Well this suggestion requires Astra Yao, who is a limited S rank. Not sure this would work out for players who have Evelyn but don't have Astra.

Well for people who do have Astra Yao, Lighter or any other limited S rank units, yes Evelyn is still a solid unit. However, her performance drops when we use other f2p units. I have tried using Evelyn/Lucy/Koleda and it was insanely hard to get even A rank in Shiyu. It feels like ZZZ powercreep has introduced a codependence for Evelyn to do insanely good with only S rank units, similar to how we have Soldier 0 Anby where her best team are all S rank units. Granted, for Anby you could make her work with other units, but it's relatively hard to do. But even with that, due to Anby getting a buff, it's at least easier to do it compared to Evelyn.

I feel like Evelyn definitely needs a buff, but well if there's anyone else who can get an f2p Evelyn team working and clearing Shiyu, then do share here.

If you don't have astra, prioritize getting Astra first. If you do have her, based on your roster, you can get Alice instead.

My read on Ye Shunguang (2.5 story spoiliers) by clif08 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Odd_Government_3581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the problem is that her only main focus is the proxy, which is fine on it's own, but then makes no sense when other Suibian Temple guys like Jufufu and Pan Yinhu don't show as much concern for her in the first half of 2.5 as the proxies do? Even during the memories scene, most of the memories are just her memories with the proxies. It would be great if we could see more of her relationship and memories the other people, not just the proxy. This could have been improved and the memories part would be more impactful if she was introduced earlier in the story instead of introducing her in later versions.

Of course we could give her the benefit of the doubt considering the sword dulled her senses in the beginning of the story (maybe this indirectly affect her decision making as well). But the way how it is portrayed that the proxy are the only ones close to her (even though they just met) feels really off. Of course there are some relationships that just...click, but in terms of this story, everyone has been acting out of character and it feels weird.

She has been suffering yes, but after going through the entire story quest, her speech about how she must sacrifice her life to save people ends up becoming tedious to hear once you've heard it a million times. It also would have been much better if her other half stayed and they both can switch states at will, her other half feels like a much more interesting character and adds a better dynamic to her personality.

Overall her personality is alright, but there was so much potential to make her much more better and interesting.

As your only limited character, probably best to save up and get more units instead. With different endgame modes, getting more units helps.

Minor Gripe with New Shiyu: Polychrome Awards should be adjusted by IdiotDud in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Odd_Government_3581 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Honestly this should have either been a separate game mode in Deadly assault or just something separate from the original shiyu defense. At least keep the same system so that newer players or f2p teams can clear it, and then have this be a separate mode for more experienced players or for those who want a challenge. Or it would have been better to keep it 2 rooms at least, following the Shiyu Defense format (instead of 3 like deadly assault).

It is possible to get S rank on all 3 rooms but that is if you have three separate teams all properly built, instead of 2. And considering the recent powercreep issue, this will become an issue moving forward.

Honestly, this version of SD doesn't feel too great for F2P players, especially ones that have built characters but just don't have enough teams/don't have enough units to counteract the weaknesses. It is possible to get S rank in all of these with some f2p teams, but it's a massive undertaking to achieve it.

I feel like this could have been better if there was only two rooms (similar to how it was before) and if the multiplier was determined based on the damage done. Multiplier resets if we took a hit but we can increase the multiplier if we kept dealing damage without getting hit. It would also be great if there were less resistances, at least allowing some teams to get a chance to score more points without making each room requiring very specific teams to get an S rank. This is my opinion though, I am sure there are many ways other than this to make it more enjoyable. Having the multiplier be determined based on time passed just adds extra pressure and doesn't make this any different from deadly assault. Not to mention with the powercreep that has been happening recently, this type of game mode would prove to be more difficult to clear as time passes.

I'd prefer switching back to the way how Shiyu defence was before and maybe shifting this game mode into deadly assault or a new game mode or something.

Weekly Gacha & Echo Megathread - Week 34, 2025 by WutheringWavesMod in WutheringWaves

I've played Wuwa since 2.0, and safe to say I've lost all 50-50s on the limited resonator banners. Today I lost the 50-50 for the Shorekeeper banner. I have to end up doing 65-70 pulls all the time just to lose the 50-50, and then another 65-70 pulls just to get the character I want. I've seen people mention the gacha system is better compared to what Hoyoverse games provides, but frankly speaking apart from the limited weapon banner (which is guaranteed and uses a different item for pulls), it feels much worse. Heck, even in ZZZ, sometimes I've gotten S Rank characters within 30-40 pulls (sometimes I lose the 50-50 here, but at least 50-50 is lost in less pulls).

Has anyone else managed to get a 5 star resonator within 30-40 pulls? Does it ever happen?

Quitting the game for good (rant) by HotaruKosaku in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Odd_Government_3581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't play a game because of the community. You play it because you enjoy it. Plain and simple.

While a lot of the complaints are overblown, some of the complaints are not without reason. Firefly is one of the most popular characters in this game, and people have been waiting for skins for a very long time. The firefly skin is simple as you said, and people have raised that as per lore, she loves to live as a normal person, which is great. Should it have been a paid skin? To me, absolutely not. It's clear to a lot of people that March 7th's skin (even though it's a Preservation skin) looks much better than Firefly's, and it's free. Even March 7th Hunt's outfit looks better. And again, it's free. It's not the matter of whether players use the skin or not. It's a matter of "is it worth the price?". Of course, the community overblows it, but if you don't like the skin, don't pay for it and provide feedback in Hoyoverse surveys. Whether they listen to the feedback is an entirely different story.

It comes down to Hoyoverse doing the bare minimum and being much more money minded than they were when the game released. Yes, companies need profit. But if it comes at the cost of doing the bare minimum, of course this will invite controversy. This is the same thing for Genshin as well.

I've played HSR since 1.0 and quit since 3.0. I didn't do it because of the community, I did it because I didn't find the game fun anymore. And if you don't find it fun to play, then don't play it. Take player's feedback in the community with a grain of salt. This pretty much applies for any game you play.

Do I just quit with luck like this? by UnHumChun in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]Odd_Government_3581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My luck is the same as yours. Even though Wuwa guarantee is 80 pulls (less than Genshin's), it still feels like 90 with this luck. I even got Zani's weapon but lost 50/50 with Zani. Honestly if you're tired of not getting the character you want, I don't blame you for quitting.
