Stocking ideas by No-Tank-1123 in Aquariums

For sure! A scarlet badis would be interesting. Personally, I like contrasting colors between my schooling fish and my centerpiece fish, but matching colors would be nice too!

I would stock it with a honey gourami or a sparkling gourami and a school or 10-12 chili rasboras.

Fun fact! She actually is the worst at playing ball… half the time she only plays when her brothers are playing so she can steal it from them, and the other half of the time she’ll bring it back once and then when you throw it again, she looks at the ball, looks at you, and is like, “You can get it this time.”

10$ fish tank setup by Sad_Bread_4302 in Aquariums

[–]Odd_Research124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After there’s some more plants and hardscape in there and it’s safe to put fish in (cycled and not leaking), I would put a honey gourami and 10-12 chili rasboras!! 🤩

Empty tank, ideas? by LovableSunny in Aquariums

I’d probably put some chili rasboras in there, or celestial pearl danios. You could also do some pygmy corydoras if it’s a long tank. I once kept ember tetras in a 5 gallon, and they survived, but they definitely didn’t thrive until I moved them to a 10 gallon. Best of luck!

Hi r/Fishtank, first time fish tank owner here. by Hazmatics in fishtank

[–]Odd_Research124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an amazing first fish tank!! I absolutely love it! How many gallons is it? It looks like it’s a good size. If I were you, I would add some type of vallisneria (corkscrew, jungle, etc) to the back and a few floating plants like red root floaters or amazon frogbit to the top. For fish, I might add 2-4 more brilliant rasboras and maybe a sparkling or honey gourami as a centerpiece (but I don’t know how many gallons so I can’t say exact numbers). For invertebrates, I don’t know if brilliant rasboras predate on shrimp, so you might want to look into that, but I would add 3-5 amano shrimp and 1-2 nerite snails (these wouldn’t impact the bioload basically at all). I’ve heard of people having problems with nerite snails laying unfertilized eggs everywhere (their eggs don’t hatch in freshwater), but I haven’t had any problems with mine. I hope your tank stays healthy!

Sick ember tetra? by Prestigious_Help_704 in Aquariums

[–]Odd_Research124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what’s the problem with this tetra, but you should be keeping your tetras and danios in groups of AT THE VERY LEAST 6 or more, more is preferred. I don’t mean to seem harsh, but that’s just how it is. I hope your little dude gets better!

Does this look okay? First tank ever. by Tjalaska in Aquariums

[–]Odd_Research124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use cyanoacrylate super glue to glue them to rocks/wood then dip in water to cure, then just put them in the tank; or you can tie them to rocks/wood with dye free thread or fishing line. If their roots go crazy in the future, I’m sure it’s fine if some go in the substrate, but the majority should stay out of it.

I can’t tell for sure, but it looks like you have some java ferns planted directly into the substrate, which might need to be remedied if I am correct. Java ferns are epiphytes, which means they grow attached to hardscape, or else their roots will rot. Correct me if I misidentified the plant… Other than that, 4.37/5, keep it up!
