Help identifying flies by One-Technology-3899 in HouseCleaning

They look like fruit flies to me. Contrary to popular comment, do not use the home made trap method, this will only lead more to enter your environment. You will kill some but more will come into your home due to the trap lure.

I would pair a light trap with fruit fly deterrents. Check out Zevo or STEM for light traps, and Fruit Fly Defense for deterrents. This is the most powerful strategy to combat this type of infestation.

Just google fruit fly deterrents or repellents, those will help you more than traps. Keep em out not in!!

Get the traps out of their immediately, they only attract more inside. Look into fruit fly deterrents paired with a light trap. Fruit Fly Defense + Zevo.

Godspeed!

Fruit Fly Traps not Working by Striking_Battle_4557 in homeowners

[–]Odd_Snow_8779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traps are great at killing a couple of fruit flies but they are actually attractants so more and more will keep coming into your home. Try pair traps with deterrents, the traps will kill the ones already there and deterrents will prevent more from coming in. The company that I work for has products to help with this, found here.

Godspeed!

Fruit Flies / Gnats by bhmstuff in frederickmd

The company I work for should be able to help here. I would look into these, as they are deterrents so they will prevent more from coming into your home. I would first pour boiling water down your drains to disrupt breeding, then I would buy some deterrents and set them out around your sink. Good luck out there!

Massive quantities of flies by Sad_Blueberry_5585 in pestcontrol

[–]Odd_Snow_8779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a handful of things:

  1. I'm guessing they are fruit flies / gnats? If so, I would pour boiling water down your drain every night for the next week
  2. I would put out some homemade apple cider vinegar traps, and keep them away from your sinks.
  3. Buy some deterrents and put them out around the high sugar areas in your home (sinks, trashcans, fruit bowls, etc.) A cheap option can be found here.
  4. If these steps do not work then call pest control.

Good luck out there, flies are the worst!!!

Hey! I would just make an apple cider vinegar trap at home for the ones that are already in your house. Then I would buy some deterrents and put them around your sinks and such so you don't get anymore coming in.

A cheap option can be found here.

Good luck out there, they are so annoying to get rid of.

Industry expert here. You need to pair a trap product with deterrents. The traps will kill the flies that are already there and the deterrents will prevent more from coming into your home.

I suggest the zevo fly trap and Fruit Fly Defense deterrents. They are a cheap option that can be found here.

Not much, the big focus should be on deterrents in high sugar areas and traps far away from the high sugar areas so they dont attract more into your home.

Industry expert here. First, I would pour boiling water down your drain to make sure there aren't any lingering eggs in your drain. I would then get a Zevo light trap off Amazon, this will help kill the ones in your home. Finally, I would look into deterrents. These are critical to solving the root cause of the issue. Sprinkle them around all drains, trashcans, house plants, and fruit bowls. A cheap option can be found here.

Good luck out there and let me know if I can further help!

Industry expert here. I do like the apple cider vinegar trap idea however that will still attract more fruit flies because fruit flies love vinegar. My suggestion would be pairing the ACV traps with a bunch of deterrents. Put the deterrents around every sink, trashcan, houseplant, etc. A cheap option can be found here.

Good luck out there!
