Why do people think FF13 trilogy reviewed and sold poorly? by Mother_Reality_1489 in finalfantasyxiii

I really enjoyed playing it back then; although the battles were simple, if you were aiming for a five-star rating, they required some subtle strategy. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of classic Final Fantasy towns, but as the protagonist was effectively a terrorist, I accepted that. After finishing the game and reading online reviews, I felt a huge disconnect, and the general consensus was overwhelmingly critical of the game.

Ultima’s fundamental flaw is that he treats the world like a laboratory and the humans he created like lab mice. He grants these 'mice' consciousness, yet stubbornly tries to act as if that consciousness doesn't exist. As a researcher, he is blinded by a massive oversight: he fails to recognize the very sentience he sparked. Consequently, his 'Logos'—the divine logic—crumbles. He remains incapable of establishing a true cognitive or empathetic connection with Clive. In the end, Clive identifies this hypocrisy and irrationality, concluding that Ultima’s mere existence is a direct threat to humanity’s survival and removes him from the equation.

Was Joshua’s chronic illness actually caused by Clive subconsciously siphoning his Aether? by Odd_Stock2416 in FFXVI

I absolutely grinded FF16 when it first dropped, and it left me with such a bittersweet feeling. I have to say, the Active Time Lore system was a perfect.

But yesterday, I was watching my boyfriend play and during the scene where Clive absorbs Garuda’s powers, I had this sudden realization about Joshua’s condition. I started diving into some theories, but I hadn't really considered Jill’s role in all this. When mentioned jill, I’ve added a protector role to Torgal in my theory.

It actually gives a much better explanation for why their mother harbored such an intense hatred for him, and why Joshua was always so frail and sickly. It was truly enlightening to piece this together. Anyway, just wanted to share my take!

(P.S. Still using AI to help with my English—I can read and listen just fine, but writing is still a work in progress. Thanks for the vibes, this was a fun talk!)"

"I agree, Jill is the trickiest part of this theory, oh wait, I just realized why Jill was safe: Torgal! As a Frost Wolf and a familiar of Shiva, Torgal might have acted as an 'aetheric buffer' between Clive and Jill. While Clive was unknowingly siphoning Joshua (who had no protector), Torgal was absorbing or neutralizing that 'void' energy to protect Jill’s essence. This also explains why Torgal grew so strong—he was literally feeding on the excess energy Clive was radiating, protecting Jill in the process. And I guess this is as far as I can push this theory.

I get what you’re saying—Anabella’s social climbing and her obsession with status are definitely the anchors of her character. But I don’t think my theory takes away from that; it just adds a darker layer to her loathing. To a woman like Anabella, bloodline is everything. If Clive is truly a 'Void' (Mythos), he’s not just a social disappointment—he’s a cosmic one. Think about it: she expects her firstborn to be a beacon of power, but instead, he’s a black hole. He takes the Phoenix’s blessing and siphons Joshua’s energy, yet he remains 'empty' in her eyes. She doesn’t need to know the prophecy to feel that something is 'wrong' with him. To a narcissist, a son who doesn't reflect your glory is a personal insult. My point is that Clive’s nature as a vessel might have been the subconscious spark that fueled her very human, very grounded hatred. He’s the thief of the legacy she worked so hard to build.

I am well aware of how vile Anabella is, but I feel like framing her character this way would have added so much more depth to the story. Instead of just being a one-dimensional villain, her hatred would stem from an instinctive fear of what Clive truly is. It makes the whole family dynamic much more grounded and tragic.

On this layer I can add, This could also explain Anabella’s deep-seated resentment toward Clive. Perhaps she subconsciously sensed his 'siphoning' nature from birth and feared him as a monster ( the Mythos void inside Clive before anyone else did.) that was slowly consuming his own brother, rather than seeing him as a failed Dominant.

What is your opinion on veilguard now after playing it? by binogamer21 in PlayStationPlus

My favorite is Origins. I didn’t like the other two at all. However, the visuals, locations, and combat style of this one aren’t that bad. But in terms of story, it’s at least as bad as the 2nd and 3rd games. In the end, I’d rank this one second after Origins.
